It's time for another random user survey. This time, I'm curious about how much money you spend, on average, per month on Pocket PC software and accessories. You Pocket PC should not be added into this average, unless you buy a new one every month. I'm thinking more of software, memory cards, cases - all the good stuff we buy for our Pocket PCs to pamper them.

This is going to be interesting. I always thought I spent too much on software even though I try to stay under $19. (That may be why I buy more 'cause I tell myself aw-w-w it's only - - -)
The thing that keeps me from downloading more is 'cause I'm out of memory. I have a 128 MB RAM SD card but I need more main memory.
I download everything to the SD card when I'm asked but some get installed to Program Files anyway. I tried moving them to Storage Card but it rendered them inoperable so I moved them back.

I'm afraid I'm in the over $36 category. It's hard to figure averages for occasional purchases like cases, sd cards, stylii, keyboards, etc., but even excluding those I think I'd be over $36. I buy a fair amount of software, but the biggest expense is the ebooks. I got my first PPC not quite two and a half years ago, and I've bought well over a hundred ebooks, many of which were close to hardcover prices.

I averaged over the last two years. To be honest, I haven't purchased much FOR my PocketPC this year simply because most of the apps I use I purchased for my iPaq and since they're still compatible and most PPC software companies offer free upgrades I haven't had the occasion to buy anything.
Same with hardware, once you have a 802.11CF Card, you don't need to buy another one (e.g. not much has changed from a year and a half ago to now).

I put down a monthly average, but it is really more sporadic, ie maybe $75 in one month and nothing for 4 or 5 months.

It's time for another random user survey. Hmm, you're already paying dividends at your new job, eh, Jason? ;)
Unfortunately, the above seems to imply that spb should charge $5 or less for all their software.
I consider myself an exception: while I don't buy software every month, I usually splurge when I feel it's worth it. Right now I'm trying to decide on a picture viewer as I just got a digital camera (a Casio Exilim, it's sooo tiny, and it uses SD, which fits just perfect with my 3870). Any suggestions? Is Palbum the best, Jason? (and I mean honestly! :))

I also put down a monthly average, coz like you, & I suspect most others, my spendings are very sporadic.
Like ThomasC22, I averaged over the last 2 yrs. Some of my software & accessories were carried over from my previous PPCs, so I generally already have the things I depended upon & don't have to buy that many new software & hardware.
BUT, I also realized I had voted on the wrong category .. & I can't redo it .. but I guess 1 wrong post won't affect the overall scores much. :)
Jason - you should be more specific. If I've only bought an SD card recently, how do I average that per month? How many months back do you want to go? Do I divide it by 12 to get the average per month over the last year?
I notice on some surveys they say things like, "In the last 6 months, have you purchased a..." You could put a radio button next to CF card, SD Card, software, sleeves, other etc. And then maybe ask for an amount at the end.
Just a suggestion.

Nope, this is for Thoughts advertising information, remember? Trust me, if I'm doing something for Spb Software, I'll tell everyone. :-)

I'm afraid our survey functionality is limited to what you see - single-choice radio buttons. I'm just looking for a best-guess estimate, that's all. :D

Of course, just a friendly little ribbing...
Sometimes I wonder what demographic stats the Slashdot guys are putting together -- some of their poll questions are downright weird.

It's all in the initial cost.
I bought a case($20), two games and a power management program($42).
And that's all I've got. I've tried a few demos, but they're gone now. The one freeware thing I've got is Jinzo Paint.
Edward
As I post this the under $5 category has the most votes with 44%. Unfortnetly, this is also the category I fall under. I really only use the base features of the OS or freeware on my Pocket PC. I don't have a big need for any of the other stuff.
Now if I had the money to, I would own every possible accesory I could get my hands on. That is just the geek in me though, not my common sense. :D Maybe I'll get some new accessories and software for Christmas. :x-mas:

Jason:
I was just looking through your site for a cool blue cover / cf sleeve for an iPAQ and I couldn't find it. (UPDATE: It was at pda motion props to Doc Dre in my other thread.)
Do you have a list of all of the current PPCT sponsers and friends. It would be usefull during the holiday season.
BTW. I wanted to say that since the site update, the ads seem much more integrated, and I'm much more likely to click through. Have you noticed any increase in traffic through those links?

Has anyone bought a high-dollar accessory like a GPS or CDMA phone/modem add-in for their PPC?
What is it? and it's coolness factor is?
