I was able to download it just by clicking the download link next to "click here to register". No registration necessary.

Yep, me too. It's not compulsory.
Unfortunately, the readme states a 64MB RAM minimum for install.
AND you apparently need Westtek ClearVue Viewers in order to print from Pocket Word or Excel...which costs $23.95.
I'm still going to try it on my e310....but if it won't support Word or Excel wihtout purchasing ClearVue it's not much use as a free download

I am printing from my IPAQ 3635, right now. It takes up a lot of memory, but did not try installing on a storage card. Any one try that yet ?
Okay.
Just printed a test page and a Pocket Word Document.
For some reason, they make it seem as though you need ClearVue to print Word documents. I think (from the little I read of the Help) that its only required if you want to print Excel docs.

OK - in the TextMaker thread I suggested that TextMaker docs could be saved in Word for Windows format and then opened in ClearVue in order to print via this HP software. Possibly a little complicated but - I tried it and it works - tables, pictures, text formating, the works! If you have all three bits of software it really isn't as much hassle as it sounds...! :D

I don't see that big of an impact on my memory...27mb total when not running it and 25-26mb free while running it.
Also, is does suppoert Pocket Word, just not Excel.

If you want to print proper word docs, not just Pocket Word ones, THEN you need Clearview. That's what the readme etc is on about.

Also, don't even bother printing Word docs that are formatted on your desktop then transferred to your Pocket PC device. Even if you haven't opened it in Pocket Word, all of the formatting is gone.

EDIT: Just saw the above post. Disregard above comments re: formatting

Fantastic program! It supports so many printers and its free!!!
Problem: Why didnt HP (whos logo is made together to work together) support thier own printer?
I just tried it on my HP82240B IR printer. This printer is for my Hp48GX calculator. Its a slip printer (thermal paper) and runs on 4AA batteries.
The printer is small, portable and would be great to carry with you when you just need to make a small printout like phone messages.
If they added a simple driver to support the HP82240B printer then they would sell more of these handy slip printers.
I have a shared printer that has the address \\desktop-xp\lexmark, but I keep getting error messages about the network not existing, or the device name already being present. I use u CF wireless LAN card on my Ipaq 3970. It seems I should log the IPAQ on to the network first? But how on earth do I do that? :?:

This works great. I have been waiting for this
a long time now. I guess now I have to convince
some people to get the westtek clearvue so I can
print out my PPT files or Excel spreadsheets.
35 bucks isn't that bad.

Hmm,
Just tried printing to my Epson Stylus C60 over the network (shared by an XP Pro machine). The software claims to upport Epson Stylus printers.
No luck.
Printing Pocket Word docs gives me reams of blank pages. Printing Pocket Outlook messages gives me reams of pages with a few garbage characters on each page.
PrintPocketCE works fine.
What kinds of printers are you (for whom it works) using?

HP Deskjet 995c (BT printer) - latest firmware. Epson Stylus 740 - latest drivers - parallel IR connector.

Installed and works fine when i select the dos driver for my Laserjet 1000 networked printer. For some unkown reason I cannot print to the Laserjet 1000 windows driver on winxp - the funny part is that i see the document in the print que but does not print.
At least we now have a free print utility!

Can you mount network file shares from that "desktop-xp" machine in pocket file explorer? If not, you may need to set up Windows networking a bit more by:
Making sure that you have your WINS host in your wireless adapter settings set to the desktop-xp's IP address and/or
Setting up LMHOSTS on your pocketpc to match "desktop-xp" with it's IP address using a utility like PocketHosts (http://www.zimac.de/cestuff.htm) (search the forum archives for excellent instructions on use).
Then your pocketpc will know what you are referring to when you tell it to print off of a shared printer on "desktop-xp".
Also, if you have firewalling set up on XP, you might have to poke holes in the firewall by setting up access to the ports needed for printing.

I would imagine that the utility will get updated as time goes by. With the new highly networked iPAQs coming (and an extremely stable and comprehensive BT) this is an important utility to be able to offer.

 I have tried selecting clearvue word documents to print in my storage card but i get error message download the clearvue software. I have that already and I can view it from clearvue doc reader. I have even closed the clearvue doc reader before opening mobile printing software but get the same message.
What am I doing wrong?

I was going to say something like "Cool" but now that I've read peoples comments I'll reserve that comment for later.
Shame it's not working for some people.

Hi All,
I just spent a hell of a time setting up a network printer on my WinXP HE notebook so my e740 could access it. Finally, after about 3 hours I was able to use the printer. Except... 1) when it was able to print, it printed a bunch of garble at the top, and 2) eventually I keep getting the following error every time I try to print
"Your device is running low on memory or other systems resources..."
Ok, I have 33 MB currently available for program memory and only 7 MB of data stored on internal RAM, so this can't be. Also, my Canon BJC is supported.
Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Worked for me so I'll say "Cool" 8)
Glad that someone finally provided free printing for the PPC. Why MS never decided to include this feature is beyond me. Anyway, nice job HP.

Does this printing software work with Pocket PC devices (not just 2002  )? Like for the Jornada 54x series?

I haven't tried, but I believe it is PPC 2002 only from what I saw on the download page.

Downloaded without a flaw, installed and quickly printed to my Epson Stylus Colour 880 on the first attempt.
Now to try my IR printer.. Used the Detect Printer and found my BJC-85 immediately, however no drivers for it... I selected the BJC-50/80. However, I get the error message re: low memory/resources when it trys to connect during print. It obviously has some issues regarding IR printing. Nice otherwise.

I loaded this on my HP 568. When I get to the 'Choose kind of Printer' page, the timer just spins and spins and spins and the box stays blank ( I assume it gives you a list of printers). I have the program installed on a Storage Card after the first install on internal memory caused the same effect.
Anyone else had this issue?
AHA! I tried freeing up a bit more memory and that seems to do the trick. This is one hungry program - is it worth it to pring for 27MB?

Well I'm having the same problem that yodacai is having. When I did get it to work with my Photosmart 1218 It took F..o..r..e..v..e..r..... to print. I have a copy of my resume' on my ipaq and the way it was printing took me back to the days of my old radio shack ribbon printer. I then tried the same thing with printpocket and it work great, it even printed the bullets that the HP software left out. I guess after a few revisions this will be great. I never did get it to print to my intel print server, I kept getting those low memory warnings.

The more I read the happier I am that I invested in PrintPocketCE, especially if I'd need to invest in Clearvue to get this to work.

I agree that there is better software available for the power user, but for a freeware print utility for the PPC, this is great.
I rarely have been in a position where I needed to print, but with my Symmetry Pro wireless email, I sometimes get an attachment I DO want to print, and this is the perfect utility for it.

Thansk for the tips, I never knew I could drag and drop files from my 'dekstop-xp' to my pocketPC and vice versa using my wireless LAN card  Unfortunately, my printer (Lexmark Z31) is not supported, but I am lot wiser again...

It does take up a fair amount of RAM, even when installed on a storage card, but I have been using it fine on my Maestro. So far I have tested it on .psw (Pocket Word), .pwi (Notes), .txt, .jpg, Contact, Calendar, and Email. It works great, and the price is right. Pocket Excel support would be nice, but at least I can still copy and paste into Pocket Word if I need to. I was dissappointed that on the Appointment that I printed the notes did not print, only the Subject, Location, Start and End printed.

I've just uninstalled it, because even though it was pretty good in it's own right, it completely messed up my GPS software (TomTom Navigator). Kept getting fatal exeptions, lockups, corrupted graphics etc etc etc. Now the HP app has gone, all is OK.
