These things are getting so cheap. 8O Those of you getting the Dell Axim with the integrated CF slots have to pick up this half-gig card.

enemy2k2,

Is there anyone in the US that you can ship it to, then have them send it on?

Yep, I posted that three days ago in the front page thread about 512 MB CF cards (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=5093&start=6). And, if they're still accepting the MAPPCTBANK35 coupon, it's $5 cheaper still. :-)

Too bad I bought the card a week earlier when it was $14 more. :-(

oops. Didn't see Jason's post a few weeks ago when I posted this. Oh well. Still a great deal!

Can anyone comment on positive or negative experiences with Viking? I've heard less than flattering experiences with the performance of Viking flash media.

I'm considering a Transcend 512MB CF for $171. Transcend performance is known to be blazing fast compared to other Type I CFs (at least according to www.dpreview.com).

I have a Viking 128 - had it for 2 years. Great card.

I would share my experiences with three of their CF cards. I have had not one single problem in three years.

I cannot say the same for any manufacturer of SD cards. I have experienced corrupt data and had to reformat several times. Have tried three mfgs, and all had the same problem-even using SoftWinter Storage Tools. I would note that Viking has not been one of those problems.

So I give a thumbs up to Viking products, for a bargain for the money!

I have 4 Viking CF cards, 3-128 mb, 1 256 mb.

I use them all the time in my PPC, desktop (to transfer data in place of a zip disk). Never had any trouble with any of them. I also have half dozen from other manufacturers with no trouble either.

Actually it's good you posted it again - it's even cheaper yet from what I remember.

I have a Viking 256 CF card and use it all the time in my PocketPC, Digital Camera, Laptop (Through a PCCard adaptor) since 2001 no problems whatsoever!...

Have had no problems with any Viking cards, memory and modem. Their rebate processing stunk though. Took almost 6 months to get a rebate, so if your purchase is based on getting a rebate quickly, may want to look elsewhere.

WOW ... that's less that $.26/MB 8O

Now if only SD cards can catch up!

Had mine for 18+ mos - have had no problem. I regularly backup PC files to the card, as well as use it daily for PPC apps and data. Probably going to upgrade since 256MB is just not enough

Can't comment on speed performance, because I haven't tested the various brands first hand.

Concerning reliability the Viking cards are great. I have (2) 256 MB Viking CF cards and use them extensively and often.

There's also a coupon here: http://coupons.mycoupons.com/coupon_detail.html?coupon=d057500190d15433d7dabc765331fe9c&q=viking

I had to call Amazon customer service to have them apply it. For some reason their web site wasn't accepting the code. But they did it with no problem. Save's another 30 bucks.

Amazon's number is 800-201-7575. I'm told they only have that number listed in one obscure location on the entire site. I just did a search on google and it came up.

What I did was call and say that I have a coupon code from couponsdirect.com that isn't working when I enter it. The coupon is legit but for whatever reason Amazon's shopping cart doesn't like it. After the support rep tried it a few times they gave up, had me place the order while I was on the phone with them and then they modified my order and applied the savings.

That's about the best I can tell you. If you go to couponsdirect.com and search for "viking" there will only be three results. That's where the coupon came from. Good luck!

I've used a Viking 256 MB card in my iPAQ 3870 for several months without any problems. The 512 MB card seems to be working so far, too.

I have had one problem with the 512 MB card, but it might be my fault. I transferred two of Boston's songs from their new "Corporate America" CD in MP3 form to the card, and both played. When I went to add the songs to another play list, one of the songs was missing. I tried to transfer it again, but the song didn't show up. I had 5 MB left on the card, and the song is less than 4 MB, so it should have worked.

I just tried a third time, and now the song is there, and I'm playing it. After playing, I checked, and it's still there, so maybe I did something wrong (twice?).... :?:

Thanks for everyone for sharing experiences with Viking... seems like a winner...

Now I just need to weigh whether I want to deal with "mail-in rebates" or not. Even with the just Amazon rebate though, that's a pretty good deal...

The Amazon deal is a coupon, not a rebate. It should be taken off your price immediately. The rebate is from Viking, and has to be mailed in, but, for $50, it's worth the effort, I think. :-)

I looked into this some more, and I think you got lucky. If you click on Redeem for that coupon, you get to this page at Amazon (http://coupons.mycoupons.com/redeem2.html?coupon=d057500190d15433d7dabc765331fe9c&q=viking). If you read it carefully, I think you should only get the discount if you also buy a digital camera. You probably didn't buy a digital camera, and that's probably why the Amazon site didn't accept the coupon.

FYI - my husband tried to get this coupon from Amazon tonight and I think they've wised up because the guy knew the coupon code and wouldn't let him have it.

Thanks a bunch. Worked for me.
I spoke to this friendly lady for about 10 minutes while their computers were slow. I don't think they get many calls ;-)
She didn't aven ask me for the coupon number! Just went ahead and applied it.
I agree that the link was not very clear, but it didn't seem like you HAD to buy a camera to get the deal. Anyway I picked up a 256mb Viking for $47 (after $10 rebate). Better lose a 256mb than a 512mb!
