If EUU3 hasn't been released for your device yet, this page would be a good one to bookmark, and of course Pocket PC Thoughts. :) We'll let you know as soon as it is available for other Pocket PCs.<br /><br />Chris has also listed the specific fixes included and a detailed installation guide.

A bunch of us have successfully flashed out Jornada 56x's with the compaq EUU3 with no ill effects. There is a poll and a thread about this at http://discussion.brighthand.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=65737 for anyone who is interested. So far the success/failure rate is 27/1
Still ... you takes your chances :-) One important point to note, as well, is that the Compaq instructions say it will take 2 minutes when it actually takes 12-14 minutes.

Yep, and it was explained in the ReadMe file.
Notes: The upgrade will take about 10 minutes to complete, not 2 minutes as is shown on the Mobile Device.
I wish they'd put a similar display on the Pocket PC when backing up to discourage use.

does anyone know if hp is planning an official update to the 568 or have they abandoned the device?
does it make a difference in terms of this update?

This FAQ seems to be missing the essential unofficial info like the fact that you can use a Compaq EUU3 to flash a Jornada 568. (This was only vaguely hinted at - a link to some threads would be more helpful.)
Anyone can go to a manufacturers support site and see if there's an update there.
Fred (one of the 27, luckily!)

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but a search didn;t turn up any results:
Does the Dell Axim ship with all the EUU3 updates in place? I'd assume so...
The Compaq EUU3 is reported to work on Toshiba E570 (I tried it on mine, and all is well) and Audiovox Maestro PDA's.
More information on the Brighthand forum for the Audiovox Maestro:

Yes, it does.

Yes, although it is still a 'do at your own risk' hack.
It worked ok for my Maestro. I now have MediaPlayer 8.5 as well.
I had read somewhere that the difference between the EUU updates provided for the e570 and the Maestro were that Audiovox added drivers to support using their phone products with the Maestro.

Just wanted to add a tick to the Compaq EUU3 update works on the Jornada 568. I haven't tried out WMP 8.5 to see how much it has improved (I don't have any videos or large MP3 files on me handheld or CF cards right now).

Also at your own risk, the Compaq EUU3 works on the Toshiba e310. I installed it off an MMC card, it took less than 2 minutes, and I have had no problems at all. :D Got the Bliss theme and the updated media player. Everything works (even PI 3.4, which crashed on install prior to installing the EUU).

I hate it how when you have Media Player 8.5 open, you can't open any Pocket Streets 2002 maps. :(

I've emailed and called HP tech support. They said there is no Jornada 560 update and recommended I subscribe to their update notification service. Casio has released this update for the E-200 and we don't yet have it for the 560.
I like this interesting use of the term "enhancements" in the update's readme. file, as reported on Chris De Herrera's Windows CE Website (http://www.cewindows.net/faqs/pocketpc2002sp3ms.htm):
Enhancements
· Pocket Internet Explorer stops responding when attempting to view some secured Web sites.
· PPP LCP renegotiation request causes unexpected disconnect.
· PocketWord and Notes stops responding after tapping ENTER at the end of a very long string that has no spaces.
· Pocket Outlook Object Model (POOM): adding recipients doesn't flag appointment as meeting.
· Unable to use Microsoft® Server ActiveSync® with user name containing extended characters.
Those actually sound like problems rather than enhancements.
Seriously, these aren't enhancements of features, they are fixes to problems. They should be called that.

Hi,
The comments you quoted below are actually not my comments but Microsofts. I cited them as the author at the top of the webpage you referred to.
Please don't take these comments as my own.
Also, regarding the ability to run EUU3 on other devices, there are devices like the 928 that you should NOT run the update on. So I chose to create a list of "official" information instead of telling people that EUU3 should work on ALL devices but you may corrupt your rom in the process if your OEM doesn't offer it already.

That's odd. I have Pocket Streets 2001, and I could open maps with a song playing in WMP 8.5.
