In it, company president H.T. Cho says that to diversify operating risk, HTC wants to try to keep from depending so much on its production of HP iPAQ devices. Currently, the iPAQ devices make up about 75% of HTC's revenues.

What I hadn't realized was all the types of devices that HTC already produces:

• SPV smartphone
• mmO2 wireless XDA
• Pocket PC Phone Edition for T-Mobile, Siemens and AT&T
• Hewlett-Packard iPAQs
• Toshiba GENIO e550 and e550MD
• Linux-based Sharp Zaurus SL-5500 and Zaurus SL-5600

And, all in all, HTC expects to see their shipments and revenues grow by 30% by the end of 2003. That's pretty a aggressive estimate, but I hope they pull it off. Producing that many diverse devices HAS to result in greater shared innovation and efficiency (I hope).

We can almost say that the success of the Pocket PC was largely due to HTC.

Wow. Talking about pulling strings behind the scenes...

...by the way, the link doesn't work (anymore) :(
