View Full Version : Post counts disagree?

Here's an interesting "problem" that I ran across.

If you look at Jason's profile page (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=2), it says (as of this moment) that he has 3557 posts. But if you actually click on "Find all posts by Jason Dunn" on that page, it currently has 3556. What happened to the missing post? 8O

Before you tell me "race condition!", I did a test on myself (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/profile.php?mode=viewprofile&u=281), and it's even weirder - the profile page says I have made 491 posts (well, before I hit Submit on this one ;)) while the search results turn up 494.

Hmm, what's up with these secret posts?

Hang on...

Nope, all my numbers are the same :(

Maybe it's deleted posts (they could still count in the post count)?

It's possible, but I'm pretty sure my post count went down when I deleted.

Wait, of course it couldn't be -- I have more posts than my count implies... unless there's an undelete ;)

Funny, I just tried that myself while you were posting your reply

BTW - reading the early history of BDJ has been kindof entertaining :) , I forgot about this little news story (http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=245&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0), I can't believe how crazy that merger fight got
