Edmonton Mall Map on Your Pocket PC

Haha....pretty cool! Yes, this mall is HUGE - we have nothing like it in Calgary. It's basically the only good thing Edmonton has going for it. Well, that, and my relatives that live in Edmonton. :lol:

I think it's great! I visited Edmonton twice on some winter holidays and the Mall is amazing, with all the indoor activities etc. We have nothing like it here in Ireland.

Oh and if I remember correctly, there is a rivalry between Edmonton and Calgary, they are always picking on each other for something.

I live here and I am a member of Thoughts community - that has to be the 3rd good thing about Edmonton.

Edmonton is nice and quiet I like it here - it is almost as far north as you can get without building an igloo. :wink: Edmonton is also featured on some 34 US city maps on the front page - it is true, I guess our downtown looks inviting or something. It is also the second sunniest city in Canada, right after Saskatoon - go figure.

PS. There won't be a war here between Edmonton and Calgary here. It is only the hockey and football knuckle heads that perpetuate this sort of thing.

Actually, no - I used to live in Fort McMurray - about five hours NORTH of Edmonton. No igloos at all, or even sled dogs, although the pubs sure fill up quick when it's -40C outside.

I used to live in Edmonton, right across the street from the Mall. It's cool if you've never seen it, but when you live there, it's just another mall, albeit BIG. As far as Edmonton goes, the things I miss the most? The jazz band I used to play in on Whyte Ave., the techno club across the street, and the river valley with its great trails for rollerblading.

'Course, Vancouver ain't so bad either, as I sit on the 23rd floor and look out over the cruise ships in the bay on a beautiful sunny day...

I have visited both Calgary and Edmonton. Each city has a different style and life to it & both are very nice. Calgary is big business & close to the Rockie mountains while Edmonton is much more laid back and located on the edge of the beautiful north.

As for the most sunshine, Edmonton and Saskatoon are really the only 2 large Canadian cities that far north. Edmonton is a little farther north than us but I suppose you may get more cloud cover from the the mountains than we do.

This looks like a cool idea. I will have to try it next time I get to the mall. By the way Ed, there is no rivalry between Edmonton and Calgary.... It is just that Edmonton has a real hockey team called the Oilers, Calgary has the Flames_out hockey team. ha ha ha

Just kidding. I live just outside Edmonton and there are always people trying to outdo each other between the the two cities of Calgary and Edmonton. :wink:

The mall is a nice place, but as you mentioned; it get quite a bit boring after a while. I love the Playdium up there -- $25 to play video games from 5pm to 1am, and not just any old video games - they've got like indie 500 racing with cars that moves sideways and stuff... and it's head-on-head versus 10 people.

To get back on topic... It's a good thing they have a map now, the place is so easy to get lost in... and I always misplace the paper maps that they have.

Too bad it's not just any old video games... There was a DisneyQuest in Chicago for a little while and the neat thing was the huge room of classic arcade games that you could still play for 25 cents. That was cool.

I'm sorry, but Galaga is still my favorite arcade game of all time.
