I was aching for this one for a while, so I started looking around to see where that mystical Pocket Divx .9 player with ATI optimizations may be found. Going to the Project Mayo forums, I found this discussion (http://forums.projectmayo.com/viewtopic.php?topic=5441&forum=23). Therein lies the link to the beta of the ATI optimized Pocket Divx for the e740 (http://home.adelphia.net/~mdukette/kits/PocketPC2002ATI.zip), which they wouldn't like to release widely yet. Go get it! I've tried it on my e740, which is using the new rom version. I've experienced much longer battery life, and the movies are decoded with much higher quality, with fewer dropped frames. The only problem is that rotation doesn't work right. Well worth it though :D

Thanks for the link - I'm gonna try it out.

I guess this is for the e740 only? I downloaded it, I have no clue as to what my Maestro/e570 uses for a video chip. I've been reluctant to crack the case, so far.
Anyone know? It loaded ok, but I didn't have a copied video on CF to test it.
Rotation and full screen doesn't always work in media player either. Sometimes it fits the screen on some wmp videos and sometimes not.

Sorry, but the e740 was the first to have the ATI Imageon 100 chip in it, so it won't work for you...
Yet another hit to the Maestro owners, they just keep coming folks.

The varmint blanked most of my Maestro's screen and did not make a sound when I tried a test movie. I tracked that rascal back to his lair and blasted him from within my PDA.
I expected at least some functionality. Some programs are like that.

Maestro users have no need for a video player that has ATI chip optimizations, as the default PocketDivx player should work fine for them.

It was there, I tried it, I'm letting other e570/Maestro owners, of my opinion, don't bother. I'm always interested in software that works better.
This doesn't work for me.

Come on people! This is an update for the e740! Not all toshibas, since they obviously aren't all the same... it takes advantage of the video processor found -only- in the e740, and if you don't have that then of course it wouldn't work, since Pocket Divx would be trying to let a video processor (which isn't there) decode the movie. How about some opinions from e740 users, puhleez...
Does the 550G use that chipset too?

As far as I know, NOPE. Sorry
