This link iPaq EUU 3 (http://www29.compaq.com/falco/sp_detail.asp?Model=2593&Div=28&Os=126&SoftwareVer=16579)was posted on Brighthand earlier today. There have already been a number of replies from folks who have installed the update, everyone is :way to go: so far. The link is not working at times...the servers are likely getting slammed.
It looks like the wait is finally over!
Cheers

The Introduction to the SP is pasted below

Corrects issue where Pocket Internet Explorer stopped responding when attempting to view some secured Web sites.
Corrects issue where a PPP LCP renegotiation request caused an unexpected disconnect.

Corrects issue with Pocket Outlook Object Model (POOM) where adding recipients didn't flag an appointment as a meeting.

For more information about these improvements, see the EUU3_xxx.rtf file contained in the Softpaq. Note: 'xxx' stands for the language extentions of English (ENG), French (FRA), German (GER), Italian (ITA), Japanese (JPN), Portuguese (PTB), Spanish (ESP), Chinese-simplified (CHS), and Chinese-traditional (CHT).

Notes

Quick update
EUU3 installed smoothly, and all is well. Processing speed has picked up a bit, noticeable in PIE and a few other 3rd party vendor apps.
As a reminder, EUU3 is an update, not a replacement. It may be difficult to see if the changes were applied as expected. Two easy ways to check include:
- Look for a new "Bliss" theme (in the Today Settings)
- Check the version of WMP... 8.5 is the new ver
Good luck :way to go:

Hello,

I installed EUU3 last night without any problems at all. I even think the machine runs a little faster now, and appears to be a little clearer, though I might be imagining that.

It is a pity that you can't see if the EUU3 has been installed (apart from indirectly-bliss=+MS-MP).

I tried installing the update on my 3635 running 2002, and as expected it told me that the 24MCONSUMER.XIP would not be installed. It then seemed to proceed on with the rest of the upgrade. However, I do not see the 'Bliss' theme installed in my Today settings. I tried to re-install the update but it was deemed invalid and automatically deleted off my device. I suppose this means it was installed, but since I don't see the 'Bliss' theme, and don't have the WMP 8.5 update, can anyone tell me how I might verify that it was installed?

Thanks!

Ok, this is no good.

I had uninstalled WMP from my device prior to performing the update. Now, after re-installing it from my upgrade cd sent to me from Compaq, when I try running WMP 8 I get an error message stating 'cannot find 'player' (or one of its components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and all the required libraries are available.'

I installed the media player to the default location, and have even installed the update off of pocketpc.com's website. Media Player won't run. Can anyone help me?

I know it's been a bit of a while, but has anybody noticed the iTask button not working correctly since EUU3?

It works after a soft reset, but seems to stop working very quickly, and EUU3 is the only thing I can think it might be.

Any ideas?

One more thing that I can't find anymore is the "disable" setting for the hardware buttons under "power".

Am I losing it? :?: I had them set to not activate if pressed when the unit was off, and now they turn it on when pressed. This of course causes the battery drain issue.

Anyone notice this? Has the disable function moved? Any hacks to set it to disable?

How is iTask working that's incorrect? I installed EUU3 on my 3870, and the iTask button seems to work just fine.

I have never noticed this capability. I just checked my 3870, and there doesn't seem room for it in the Power settings applet -- the internal and external battery indicators and the two time out settings take up the whole screen. There would need to be a tab to hold more information, and there isn't. (The 3900 series apparently has another tab, but that's for controlling how much stand-by power you want to reserve.)

I also checked the Buttons settings applet for this capability, and it isn't there, either.

I also checked an iPAQ 3650, and there isn't any button setting like that there, either. What iPAQ do you have? Have I been missing something? :o

Nothing happens when the button is pressed. If I'm on the today screen "Start" occasionally changes to "iTask", but that's about it.

Hmmm, weird. Does invoking iTask through the Start menu or the Programs folder work?

Nope. Sorry - meant to mention that in the original thread. There's no other software on the machine either - it's quite clean.
