Hi everybody,

I'm new in Pocket PC's and planning to buy one among new releasing devices...but haven't decided yet....have you?

What I wanna know is that I have a digital camera (Olympus C-2100 UZ) and whether it's possible or not to transfer pictures from the camera to PCC directly without using desktop PC or laptop. My camera uses only SM memory card and I don't know if there is any way to use SM cards in PPC's. Is there any adapter or something in order to use SM cards in PPC's? Coz I don't wanna pay extra for CF or SD cards...

Any comments?

Here is a link to a SM to CF adapter (PDF file). Never tried one, so not sure about it (Always used my PC to transfer files when I had SM). I'm also not too sure how easy it will be to get. Good luck!!!

On what Pocket Pc to get, I think everyone's pretty well divided into their Dell, V35, Toshiba, Ipaq camps. That's been covered in the forum and news quite a bit so try digging a bit. Axim for me. (Come on 18th!)

As for SM on PPC's... I'd recommend setting your camera to a lower quality, unless your a patient person to open up multi-megapixel images.

I've got the CF-SD adapter and it works like a charm on my Maestro. It sticks out a ways though, so it is not the kind of thing you'd keep in for general use, but for transferring files it works great. In fact I used that to load a new ROM on my Maestro since I didn't have a CF card large enough.

Heh - I just searched for the exact same thing you're looking for yesterday. I've long wanted to transfer my digital photos straight to my PocketPC, but I have an EM-500 with just an MMC/SD slot (my camera is the Olympus 700-UZ ... very similar and also takes smartMedia cards).

Now I'm salivating over the Dell Axim, so if that pans out (i.e. doesn't have quality control or button problems), I'm going to be able to use the CF slot to transfer my photos.

Does anyone have any good links for those adapters online? I tried searching for a little bit, but couldn't find much (one British site for about 23 pounds, but not even sure if they ship to the US).

I got my SD to CF adapter from Australia at http://www.mittoni.com/. They also have memory stick to CF adapters but I don't see a Smart Media to CF adapter on their site. They have reasonable prices and good service. Shipping to US was quick.

Thanks Steve you gave me a starting point to search in the net for those adapters....
I Found a company called Pretec which produces memory cards and peripherals, bluetooth products for PDA's and digital cameras...They have all kinds of adapters in stock....SM to CF...SD/MMC/MS to CF (3 in 1)....SM to CF is $49...is it worth? I don't know actually!

There should be a way to trasfer pictures from digital camera to PDA using USB or something!

What do you say Xyress?

I'm trying to storm my brain:)

Great, I knew they existed, just didn't know where to find them!!! $49 isn't too bad, I guess it all depends on how much you want it! :)

Just remember the adapter is: CF Type II

Steve

BTW, I removed your double post

I have a mini-review of the Pretec cards coming (SD to CF and SmartMedia to CF)...
