<a href="http://www.pdainternalbattery.com/">http://www.pdainternalbattery.com/</a><br /><br />Laptops For Less has launched a version of their site aimed specifically at PDA owners in need of replacement batteries and accessories. They have replacement batteries for iPAQs, Toshibas, and HP Jornadas. If you need a replacement internal battery, check this site out.

They are charging $89 for an e740 battery which can be had for $30 to $40 less on other sites. What a rip-off!

Toshiba itself sells it for $69 on their own site.

I think it's great that there's another option out there - thanks for pointing it out, Jason. Having just done the battery replacement thing for an iPAQ 3600, though, I have to note that the folks at LinearLogix:

...will give you the battery and install it for the same price Laptops for Less is charging for the battery by itself. I had a great experience with LinearLogix, so I'd go with them before Laptops for Less - hopefully the latter site will realize they need to undercut the competition and start dropping prices.

I'll do you one better, it can be bought for $20 less on the Toshiba website! WTF--are they buying retail and marking up from that?!?

The external battery pack thing looks kind of intersting. Could help out on long flights or something. Even Jornada users could use it eith the Pharos power adapter I'd bet.

No kidding. A cursory search shows these:

$57 at Digitally Unique (http://shop.store.yahoo.com/digitally-unique/pa3187u1brs.html)

$58 at PC Connection (http://www.pcconnection.com/scripts/productdetail.asp?product_id=301183)

I'd really like to find the original manufacturer of the battery and find a replacement that way, but I bet that the custom packaging for the e740 is a killer. It looks like the battery is molded into the case.
