Wireless connection through IRDA to AT&T phone?

Has anyone managed to establish an internet conneciton with their AT&T gsm/gprs phone? I have a Nokia 6590 and an Ipaq 3850, and I am trying to establish an internet connection through the IRDA port on my phone; but the AT&T website has been NO help whatsoever... even worse, the customer phone support shifted me around to more numbers than I can count, and nobody had any answers for me. I know it can be done... I just don't know *how*.

Can anyone help?

check out www.ppcw.net It's a great resource for all type of wireless connectivity instructions for IrDa and bluetooth between PDAs and GSM/GPRS phones. see http://www.ppcw.net/stories.php?story=01/10/19/5205351 Once you are all set up, have the PPC dial *99# to connect to GPRS. Note that AT&T does not support CSD or HSCSD connections via GSM.
