I have been approved to order the Sendo SmartPhone Developers kit. Apparently, the phone isn't even FCC approved in the US yet, and you have to agree to several conditions to obtain it. You also have to prove to them you have a valid need for the kit. I am a ppc junkie. I have had a HP 568, ipaq 3870, and currently own a 3970. I don't like to burn money, but I do love my toys. I am looking for opinions as to whether it is worthwhile at this point to drop the $800USD for this development kit or if it is completely insane.

Thanks,
-Drew

(all, please bear with me as this is my first post anywhere)

I wouldn't unless you need it. I'm using one in the US now and I wouldn't pay that much unless you had to. The Orange phone will be nicer and supported, you should be able to get one from expansys.com by Mid-November for a more reasonable price.

Hello:)
HEy dude it is best to wait. That is jut to much money, even if it is just a toy for you. Wait a little bit, pay less money for the same toy which may be better. Then you can do more wiht the same amount of money:)

Not sure about the difference between Sendo's and Microsoft's versions? But the Microsoft version of the developers kit is a free download: http://msdn.microsoft.com/downloads/default.asp?url=/downloads/sample.asp?url=/MSDN-FILES/027/002/069/msdncompositedoc.xml

The difference is that the Sendo kit includes a prototype smartphone.

Seeing as they pulled the plug on this, perhaps it will be a collectors item.

I am glad I didn't buy it.

Well, actually, if you REALLY want a Smartphone now, this might have been a good purchase being that the orange phone is Sim Locked. The Sendo (albeit discontinued) is probably your only hope for a couple months.
