Well, after thinking heavily about it the last few days... I've come to see the joy of Dell. I'm debating between a Ipaq 3835 or the $299 Dell. It'll almost certainly end up the Dell unless the early reviews come with some shockingly bad news.

What I'm curious about however, is the jog dial. That powerpoint slide awhile back said 5-way. Does this mean no diagonal? If so, how much would that really effect today's games? Having only a 525 at the moment, I can't really say how important diagonal movement is. (Of course I'm also curious about multiple button pushes and response time.)

If it indeed can't move diagonal and it's important in games, it probably won't be a deal breaker... but it would be a bit disheartening.

Well, to be accurate, you must mean the directional pad, not the jog dial.

The d-pad is the pad which is on the front. I think some of the best games (not emulated) are played with the stylus, anyway.

THe jog dial is on the side of the PPC, scrolls up and down and usually can be pressed as a function button.

 I stand corrected.

Not a gamer but my understanding is the majority of game pads are four contact devices anyway, up down, left, right. The key is being able to accept multiple contacts, i.e. up and left simultaneously, for a diagonal. I'm sure I'll be taken to task on this, but that is what I have read.
