Based on Capcom’s first ever arcade classic of the same name, it’s now available for your PC and PDA. Download it here. It’s free. Ready for take off? Then, have a blast!"<br /><br />I played around with this, and it's kinda addictive. What I found even more exciting, though, is the list of other Pocket PC games available for purchase from the Capcom site: Ghosts 'n' Goblins, Commando, Legendary Wings, 1942 and Section Z.<br />Thanks to Hayes for the tip.

Try this patch (http://www.bitbanksoftware.com/downloads/capcom_update.exe) for those application errors.

The patch helped a somewhat on my iPAQ 3975. I also can't figure out how to fire and it seems to be putting the game in landscape mode, but only covering half the screen.

Guys,
I am nearling completion (days, not weeks away) on the official updated release of this code. The new code of course has bug fixes, but also some new features including "rotate 180" for those who like to hold the device in the other orientation. I have also tested it on the new devices and it should properly support all of the new Pocket PCs. I will post an announcement when we have the official release ready and will see if I can release the newer code in a link on my website to help those who are having problems.

Capcom, the company that produces video games for all kinds of platforms, is giving away the Pocket PC version of its classic Vulgus game for FREE.
Is this a newer version? I got Vulgus months ago (my zip file is dated 3/24/2002). It was free, and seems to work fine on my iPAQ 3870, with one exception. Every so often, I end up in the Screen Settings applet and have to recalibrate my screen. :-(

It happened with a particular key combination. Either left and fire or down and left. Seems to be a problem with 3800 series iPAQ (I have 3850). Anyway, I hope this new version fixes this. It was a fun game.

bitbank I see you are related to this company. I liked the game very much and would pay for the others, BUT I didnt buy because I would like a limited demo of the games to try them out, or AT LEAST a few screenshots of them to see what is the quality of what I am buying...

Venturello,
I will be posting screen shots of all the games when the new release is ready. It is Capcom's (similar to most Japanese game companies) policy not to give out demonstration versions of the software. I agree with you that a demo version would be helpful and again I will ask their permission. Part of the reason for not giving out demo versions is perhaps the fact that these emulations are running the original game code. If you liked the original game, you will like the emulation because it has the same sounds, graphics and behaviors of the old game.

NO WONDER WHY IT'S FREE! WONDER IF THE BILLABLE VERSIONS HAVE THE SAME ISSUES

You're right, it's not a Vulgus issue. Pressing the Calendar and Action buttons at the same time brings up the screen alignment applet even when I'm not playing Vulgus.

Couldn't the game over-ride the default behavior of this button combination like it over-rides the default behavior or a single button press?
I think this makes the game unuseable on the 3800 series iPAQs.

Just change the button assignments. When you open the game hold your stylus down on the graphic of the ship then choose settings>Button Mapping. Also use your stylus to control the ship that lets you avoid d-pad problems.
