BostonPocketPC.com, home of the Boston Club Pocket PC, has a review of the application. It's the first time I've seen a review of an application where no screen shots are included, so here's a shot from the PocketGear Web site:<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketgear.com/Product_images/2/2720/withMP3_eng.gif" /><br /><br />"One of the most popular features of Pocket PCs is the ability to bring your MP3 files with you anywhere and play them at your convenience. And although Microsoft's Media Player does an adequate job playing MP3's as well as other media file formats, a better player with more features is something many have been waiting a long time for. Cardinal Information Technology released a new MP3 player named withMP3(mentioned here a while ago), which will probably be the best its kind because it has everything you'll ever want from an MP3 player!"<br /><br />You can <a href="http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=5650&associateid=172">purchase withMP3 from PocketGear.com</a> for $15.75. That purchase link is an affiliate link for the reviewers Web site. Strangely enough, this application isn't listed on Handango.

I have tried with mp3 and I liked everything about it except for one thing.
I don't like to carry around a lot of musing in mp3 format because the songs take up to much space on my memory card. I like to make the most out of the space on a cf card, so I usually will convert a 128kbps mp3 to 64kbps and then convert it to .wma format. I don't notice a difference in quality when listening to them through my sony earbuds.
If with mp3 can come around to supporting other audio formats, it will definately be my choice.

According to other thread on this site, they're adding WMA support soon.

I've been demoing it for several days, and its working pretty well. I have only one gripe. I installed in on a memory card (the one that houses my MP3s. I figure I don't need the software when I don't have any songs.) Well WintMP3 tries to start every time I turn on my iPaq. Not every time I soft-reset, every time I try to turn it on. Of course this doesn't work very well when I have a different card in, or no card at all. I just haven't had time to do any registry spelunking to find out how to turn this off.

I run it from my cf card too and have no problems...did you try turning of the option "play at open" under config in withmp3
I have been using it for a few days as well.
I like it, but it seems to make my 3975 iPaq lock up. Specifically, if I turn the iPaq off and turn it back on, the screen does not respond to any taps at all. When I do a soft reset, everything works fine again. I have not pinpointed if a specific setting is making this occur. If this is not fixed in a future version, I won't register the app, but hopefully it will be fixed.
This is definitely coming from withMP3. I have installed and uninstalled th application a few times. When it is not on the iPaq, no lock ups. When withMP3 is on the iPaq it will lock up.
I sort of wonder whether this has anything to do wth Xscale. Nost sure, but I have not seen this comment from any 36xx, 37xx, or 38xx owners.

The problem that withMP3 has is it cannot be installed on a memory card. I experienced the exact same issues with my Audiovox Maestro. Once I uninstalled it and reinstalled it to main memory, the problem disappeared.

Should I assume this is in response to my post?
Of so, is the writeable ROM considered a storage card? That's where I have been installing withMP3.

Yes, that would be a correct assumption :D
I would assume that the OS looks at it the same. My experience came down to powering up the Maestro without the card that I had withMP3 installed on. An error message came up that it could not find a particular executable. Apparently withMP3 is running something at startup. It will continue to have the same problem until you do a soft reset, but the next time you run withMP3, it will happen again.
Try it out and see what happens. At least don't be as drastic as I was and hard reset
Windwalker,
I just installed withMP3 to the default location. I'll use it like this for a couple of days.
Hopefully, I won't post another issue on this board, in which case, I'll happily register the app.
Thanks!

Yes, it works much more smoothly in the RAM. Fortunately, it is significantly smaller than the huge WMP. I would like to at least see mp3pro support. They said MS is giving them a hard time with the licensing. Playlist mgmt is much better than WMP in my opinion.
