With the T-Mobile PPCPE selling for $349 at Amazon, I am sorely tempted to buy one and switch from SprintPCS to T-Mobile. But I'm afraid that if I do, I'll find out that T-Mobile (who uses Cingular's network in CA) doesn't have good coverage in my area. Where can I go to get objective infornmation about the quality of Cingular/T-Mobile (or even AT&T) GSM/GPRS coverage in my local area? I live about an hour north of San Francisco.:?:

The best way of doing this is to buy a T-Mobile phone and utilize the return policy if the coverage sucks. Most maps and information are too approximate to be of use.

I believe T-Mobile now has a 14- or 30-day return policy (which is a massive improvement from Voicestream's whopping 2-day return policy).

Try http://alliance.cingularinteractive.com/dev/cda/zip So far when I check various LA locations from this site and then drive through them, the signal strength reported is more or less accurate.

Thanks for the tips. The Cingular link says there should be excellent signal where I live. I'll check out Amazon's return policy and see about the T-Mobile PPCPE.

I have ATTWS and love the service. I am tempted to buy the new ppcpe when it is released this month. They have a rather large network and should be fully up and running by the middle of next year or end of summer. However, I do not live in CA.
