However, it will be available in at least a couple of "flavours," one for enterprises and another for small office/home office users. This is pure speculation, but my guess is that the only difference between the versions will be in the software that's bundled with the device.

I think this is great news. First, it's good to see that the number of mobile operators offering the Pocket PC Phone Edition is increasing. Second, I'm glad that a company as good at producing enterprise applications as Siemens is getting involved in supporting this useful business tool.

One word... accessories!
I wonder who will get the keyboards first. AT&T or Datanywhere?

When I attended Tech Ed 2002 (New Zealand) in August Vodafone were showing them off at their booth (I didn't see what they were badged as, although I got to try one and was amazed at how light it was)...the guy I spoke to said they were hoping to bring them in within 6-8 weeks, so I'm keeping my eyes open.
With reference to this Siemens version: interesting that it's not a Loox.

I wonder if AT&T will add their own version of t-mobile crappy software that everybody has removed? Isn't there suppose to be a update for the pocket phone edition soon that makes the GPRS use 4 slots instead of 2 ( I don't know if that's the right? )

for those folks who have a t-mobile device, here's how to get rid of those applications:

from what i can tell the at&t pocket pc phone has better applications.

Not really - Siemens continued to develop the SX55 (the Casio based successor to the SX45 and predecessor to the HTC based SX56) while Fujitsu-Siemens/Fujitsu worked on the Loox. Different markets and aims - Fujitsu-Siemens/Fujitsu are aiming for the PDA market but offering connectivity (the market that HP are aiming for now) - Siemens want to offer a flash mobile with PDA functions. If form follows function the HTC model makes much more sense for Siemens. It seems like good thinking to me. The SX45/55 were dismal failures - tried to be a powerful PDA and GPRS phone at the same time - leading to the Casio brick form factor - useless for both camps!!
