Always good deals in US....the only thing which suck is that amazon.com do not ship them to Canada...let alone paying GST/PST extra...

What impact on battery life do the Viking cards have? I ask because I bought one of the super-cheap-at-the-time ($45) 128MB Mr. Flash CF cards from NewEgg last year, and promptly found out that it sucks my battery life down to near 1 hour, when reading ebooks (my most common Pocket PC activity). Consequently, I no longer use the Mr. Flash card, except to transfer something to main memory once in a while.

Do the Viking cards have a noticeable impact on battery life? Any user testimonials?

Have any of you Canadians tried Ecost. I have used them a few times to ship to Canada. They may not have a matching deal today on memory cards, but many times they do. They will give you a quote in Canadian funds delivered to your door all taxes in, before you decide to buy.

I think the problem with the Mr. Flash cards is that they're 5 volt instead of the 3.3 volt that mainstream brands use. Likely got a deal on the chips, which is why the Mr. Flash card are so much cheaper than others. I have a 256 MB Vikinig card that I've used in both my digital camera and my Pocket PCs, and I haven't noticed any unusual impact on battery life (CF cards DO take some battery life to run however).

If you're using them on a Pocket PC, speed is irrelavent - a Pocket PC can't write data fast enough to saturate even the slowest CF card. In fact, unless you're using a high-end digital camera, no device can really saturate the speed of a CF card. Don't sweat it. :D
