Share Pocket Outlook data via SMS

He uses SMS for quite a few things, and if I've sent 100 SMS messages in three years of mobile phone usage, I'd be surprised.<br /><br />But this time, Arne reports on an application that makes even me like SMS. V2R Outlook2SMS enables you to share a contact, appointment or task via SMS with other Pocket PC users. Both have to have Outlook2SMS installed, but if they do, the program converts the Outlook data into a SMS message at the sender, sends the message, and converts it back into Outlook data at the receiver. That is a very easy way to share these kinds of appointments if you're not in a position where you can beam them over IR! Read Arne's preview, with screenshots, to find more about the application.

wow - sounds great.

SMS is great IMHO. I have been using it a lot over the last 3 years. In NZ all the kids txt msg each other and Vodafone made large gains in the mobile phone marketshare. I use it a lot to organise meeting places with friends when out on the town. Ie. its easier to txt someone with a message of "where and when" then to try and leave a voice mail espcially in a crowded and noisy environment [ie. pub] . The receiver then can pick up the message without having to find a quite environment as well (lets say they are in another pub) to listen to a voice mail.

We get ski, surf and road reports back home as well as scores from important rugby games as well via SMS.

The usibility of this though, depends on the network/technology in place. Pity nth America is sooooo segmented!

One hundred SMS messages in three years? Wow.

My cellphone plan here in Manila allows me 1200 free SMS messages a MONTH before the per message charge kicks in, and sometimes 1200 isn't even enough.In fact I have friends who regularly average over 2000 messages a month.

Yeah, SMS is the best thing to happen to the Mobile market. My wife uses it all the time to send me notes while I am onsite at a customers location, in meetings, etc... I also use AIM and friends and family use it all the time to get a hold of me. It is easier sometimes than a phone call for a quick question, especially when it is to someone who talks a lot. :D :agrue:
