Now, don't get me wrong, as a quick password system, a thumbprint scanner might be a cute idea, but you won't get me using it for anything that really needs to be kept safe.

This link (http://www.dansdata.com/uareu.htm) is to an article where someone uses a technique for fooling fingerprint scanners using gelatine to manufacture a fake fingerprint that was invented by Tsutomu Matsumoto of Yokohama National University.

Now if amateurs can fool these things with better than 50% success, just think what the Intelligence community or criminals will be able to do.

Besides, the thought of street criminals chopping your hand off to get access to your bank account is a little too unpleasant for words.
