I have the Compaq iPaq H3630 and have been using it for 1 year and the battery seems to last less every day.

Plays MP3 low volume for 30 mins and then I left it on for 2 1/2 hours and then it died ! It was fully charged b4 and left it on with the backlight fully on !

I'm considering buying an extra battery expansion pack bu they are quite expensive. Also there's a DIY kit available to replace the battery on your own.

I'm thinking about selling it and getting a Palm! It has been nothing but problems. I cannot find software (I mean $50 for a simple app is quite a lot !!).

Thanks

The iPAQ battery will lessen in overall charge over time. You can get a replacement battery installed by www.ppctechs.com - use the code "pocketpcthoughts" to get a small discount.

There's a lot of free software out there - http://www.ppc4all.com/ is a good place to start, and Handango too.

If you have a modicum of mechanical talent you can also replace it yourself:

http://www.ipaqupgrade.com offers a do it yourself kit

and for less money you can get a similar kit at:
http://store.yahoo.com/laptopsforless/16pdabatfori.html Which is the option I chose... and the replacement battery for my wife's aging 3630 arrives tomorrow.

Hope this helps
