I had been using WISbar with my previous PPC2002 devices. It's not working well with Phone. There's no options to display title bar icons for signals etc.. What task switcher has the capabilities?

Try vbar, it is a WisBar derivitive that gets mapped over the upper-right corner only leaving the notification area untouched.

Pocket Nav should also work. It also doesn't cover up the notifications area.

I've not tried vBar, but they're probably similar.

Battery Pack 2002 v3.3 is also quite good - u can specify what programs you want to appera on your TODAY screen - costs $10 and is worth it for the battery and memory monitoring shown on today screen.

Gigabar & BananaPC work well (similar to Vbar) also a (Must Have app for me was) BtnPlus this allows you to map alternate functions to the buttons. (it is a non english app but not hard to figure out)

Thanks all. I am using vBar which is working quite well. It cannot close the Phone app, however.

gigatask is always good. It doesn't have the issues that gigabar does in that it allows you to close (actually minimize) the phone app and it can be configured many different ways to work.

I've tried them all including wisbar, icbar, & vbar. Gigatask is the only one the works really good on the PPCPE

I just downloaded and installed Gigatask. Wow this is cool! I am unable to get it to close the phone application though, when I press "Close this task" while in the phone app nothing happens. It will close it if I select "Close all tasks". How did you do it?

You can't close the phone app, it's kind of like the programs or settings, they will hide but not actually close. Likewise, if you open you call log or speed dial, you will get additional 'phones' in gigatask. I spoke with the author of the software and he said that until he has a ppc phone device he wouldn't be changing the code to hide it. When using gigatask I just use the today icon from the startmenu to minimize the phone apps. Actaully I've stopped using gigatask for now. I wan't to try using the device as it was intended (without a taks manager) to see how bad it really was. As of yet, I really don't need a task manager like gigatask, I've been working fine without it for 4 days now.

I think I may have found the task manager for PPC phone edition devices. This just came out this week and is available at http://www.handango.com/PlatformProductDetail.jsp?siteId=1&jid=8A3A52B168E91C511DX7486F7EE5AXD7&productId=47339&optionId=1_2_2&productType=2&catalog=30&txtSearch=mobitools&sectionId=0&platformId=2

I've used it for 48 hours now and I am very happy with it. The icon can be located anywhere on the screen, menu bar, taskbar, notification area, or right in the middle of the screen if you want. This manager has most the features of vbar but works great with the phone app. This doesn't allow you to tap&hold to close yet but if you want the smart minimize feature and the ability to shut down apps from anywhere, this is it. For $4 it was worth it.
