<a href="http://research.microsoft.com/~jiangli/portrait/">http://research.microsoft.com/~jiangli/portrait/</a><br /><br />Microsoft Research has released a version 1.5 of Microsoft Portrait. This program is "a research prototype for mobile video conferencing. It supports .NET Messenger Service, Session Initiation Protocol and Internet Locator Service on PCs, Pocket PCs and Handheld PCs. It runs on local area networks, dialup networks and even wireless networks with bandwidths as low as 9.6 kilobits/second. Microsoft Portrait delivers portrait-like video if users are in low bandwidths and displays full-color video if users are in broadband. In low bandwidths, portrait video possesses clearer shape, smoother motion, shorter latency and much cheaper computational cost than do conventional video technologies. Microsoft Portrait provides basic presence notification, chat/voice/video functions almost anytime, anywhere, on any device."<br /><br />Since this version, Microsoft Portrait supports Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). You can chat or call with Microsoft Portrait users or MSN Messenger Users after you sign in Communications Service.

is it just me or is that the little HP camera I just returned they are using for this baby. Too Cool looks like I need a dual expantion sleve now.

This is a perfect example of why I think that Compaq messed up when they didn't put a second slot in the naked iPaq. The sleeve expansion idea was a good one, but instead of sticking with zero or no slots, just add duel slots and then the expansion sleeve can add the third (or more). The sled for the 550g shows the potential of 3 slots.
With MS Portrait, the HP camera and a CF WiFi card make for a great video phone type application. The e740 may be a great platform for this type of application now.

I believe that you can use MS Portrait on any 2002 device. There is third party software for the HP camera that allows you to use it on other devices as well. It is also capable of some video capture capability as well.... it is just the HP software doesn't do this.

Does anyone know what or where this software is?
