http://www.zimac.de/mobile/mobxda.htm

Speaking of Marc Zimmermann: he finally was able to publish his review of the HTC PW10, better known as the O2 XDA and T-Mobile MDA, on his homepage. Read it, and you may understand why Marc is so happy with this device. And not only Marc. I've spent this evening in Essen, joining the Pocket PC User Group Ruhr, and Marc's XDA was liked a lot by the attendees. Somehow this unit has a coolness factor that's beyond the regular PDA scale.

The guru of personal technology product reviews doesn't seem too impressed. Although, at 4 hours, the battery is better than I thought (don't know if this is a marketing claim or his actual tests though).

Walt is not impressed with anything unless it runs Palm OS. If the device said Handspring Treo on it (with the same features) he would have loved it.

walt is known not to like anything from microsoft (look at his reviews) and it's been said he's very close with jeff hawkins from handspring, and of course the treo is his fav device-- so this type of review was expected. i think most reasonable people have begun to write off walt as an objective reviewer.

Yeah, I also read another review by Jon Fortt of the San Jose Mercury News, and it seemed pretty clear he was also Palm OS biased. However his main objection is that his cellphone is his primary device, and he wants a solution more like a cellphone and less like a PDA. This is a valid point. But for people like me, who view their PDA as the primary device and use the cellphone infrequently, then this is an exciting product.

my major concern about these devices is how they will be perceived on an airplane. i saw another thread somewhere (perhaps here) that in europe, the flight attendents would automatically ask anyone with these XDA-type devices to turn it off and would not listen to any reasoning regarding the device's ability to shut off the antenna while leaving the PPC part enabled.
i can't help but think that such a device will receive the same kind of reception here in the US.

i have over 100k in miles on 2 different airlines, maybe 3 soon. it's never been a problem, ever. i fly more than most people i know, ug.
but here is some advice: don't wave it around and show people, don't ask if it's "okay" to use it even with the cell parts off, keep it in it's case, don't wear a shirt of hat that says "i've got a phone here" you'll be fine.

I think most flight attendance is not really aware of the availability of Phone+PDA. Even when I flight Singapore Airlines, it's still fine to use the my iPAQ with GPRS/GSM jacket attached to it.
Singapore Airlines is known to be very strict on handling the cellular phone. They always told the passenger to turn of the phone before entering the plane.

1) i just bought my self a motorolla v 66
2) theres really only two hard ware buttons and well... ima gamer so those buttons missing really hurts
well... i suppose i could wait for the jornada 928s release in the US when and if that happens

This statement is indicative of the habit SOME individuals within the PPC community have of stating that anyone not giving a glowing review to a PPC product must automicatically be anti-PPC, anti-Microsoft, and pro Palm (let's hope the assumption isn't that they all must be die-hard Mac and/or Linux users as well).
Maybe Walt just didn't like the device? It's only one guy's opinion you know. Like it or not, Walt is the most listened to and trusted source when it comes to consumer computing, electronics, etc. The blanket statement that "most people have begun to write [him] off as an objective reviewer" is nothing more than irresponsible misinformation (incidentally, I noticed you didn't say a thing about the review or provide a single example where he's getting it wrong).
It would be the equivalent of saying that Phillip Torone (sp?) takes issue with Walt's review only because the success or failure of this platform and product has a lot to do with the success or failure of his Flash animated Today Screens.

i said "most reasonable people" there are many unreasonable people in the world. saying he's the most listened to and trusted source is something many would debate.
i like walt, i have all the gear he talks about, i read his articles. you could say i'm a fan. i do know, and i think he's even say (if he hasn't) he doesn't like microsoft stuff in general, and he really really likes his treo.
you're looking into my 2 sentence post waaay to much.
i guess i could go and pick apart his review and post what i thought was off, but that's kinda boring for me, i'm sure others will tho. i'd rather make some animated today screens and make da cash y0. bling bling.
cheers,

Before we dismiss all negative reviews as personal bias, here's another one:

Perhaps the unit isn't as well rounded as it should be :(

Does anyone know if I can use my existing VoiceStream SIM card in this device? If so, is there any harm in swapping it from a phone to the device and back again once every month or so?

Eric,
Yes, you should be able to use your VS SIM just fine in the unit. Switching back and forth should be fine, too, although avoid doing it excessively...
Now, getting this phone as a non-new VS subscriber may be hard for some time. VS is known to favor non-subscribers for the new equipment first until they have enough stock.

Hi, I am roatto
I ask if there is the possibility to find OS in Italian language for my XDA or the pocket pc 2002 phone edition in Italian language.
thanks for a reply
