View Full Version : Come on, today is the day...let's break 20,000 posts!
Jason Dunn

We're only 98 posts away from breaking past the 20,000 post mark, which is significant in the life of a forum this young (5 months). Lurkers, come out of your holes, into the sunlight of the forums! Post my brothers and sisters, post!

UPDATE: Uh, I guess I needed to specify that today was the day to post something USEFUL to the discussion board. I don't want to break into 20,000 posts with emoticon posts.

What's most amazing is that this open source software is really going to give Microsoft a run for its money on the server end of things. To think something that's free can support a busy web message board just as well as a Microsoft product.
MySql forever :).

And here is my contribution with a small collection of emoticons I will never use in regular postings anyhow... ;-)

Well, here's post four to this thread.
This is pretty exciting, if I don't say so myself! Nearly 20,000 posts. Incredible! Good work, Jason. :smilecolros:

finally an excuse to post... far to freaquently I end up just skimming posts and not finding anything truly constructive to say. At least now, since there is nothing constructive to say, I should say it.

Its quite the accomplishment to have a source of information THAT popular. Hope you keep up the good work!

OK, I'm about 35 or more posts away from Pupil to Ponderer... can I post them all here? 8O

Oh, to live as a Chia-pet, all green and wet.
Caring not for the world around him.
Living only for the pleasures abound him.
Looking all green and fluffy.
You just might want to call him Buffy.
Thank you.

20,000 posts already? Heck, I swear it was just yesterday that Pocket PC Thoughts began its life! Having been here from the beginning, it's come a long ways. When I first became an MVP, Jason was a prolific (well... maybe rabid is a better word  ) poster in the newsgroups, and didn't like web-based forums that much. My my how things have changed
I can't believe how far the Pocket PC has come in my time with the Pocket PC (which began with a WinCE Palm-sized device, then when the Pocket PC came out I grabbed a Jornada 540 - which I just recently gave away to a worthy person <sniff>). In my time as an MVP, I've seen the Pocket PC scene not just grow, but explode. I can't say enough how great I feel to have joined along for the ride at the start, and seeing it explode, and meeting such a great group of people (the last MVP Summit was one of the best times of my life). Maybe we will be remembered one day as the pioneers of the Pocket PC scene and the modern Mobile Devices scene (Biography Channel presents... Jason Dunn  )

BwanaJim: Isn't your graphic from a King Crimson album? I've been noticing that it looks familiar, but I couldn't place it, and I'm still not SURE. But I thought I'd waste the space to ask and in the process, do my part to help Jason hit the 20K mark! 8)

Good eye there sesummers. That's right, it is an album jacket from King Crimson. Three of a Perfect Pair to be specific. One of my favorites.

Yes! I'll bet I haven't heard that one for at least a decade. I might have to track down a copy. The only Crimson in my collection now is Frame by Frame, which isn't nearly as good.
Thanks.

Well deserved Jason. Now we just need to aim for 20,000 posts a year, then 20,000 posts a month.
Get posting everyone!
Actually - it is sometimes hard to keep to a thread as the main page fills up so fast. Stay away for 3 days and every item is new. That's just a testament to the news gathering abilities we come here for. :D

The quality of a discussion board is all dependent upon the people who frequent it. Because of the variety and quantity of news being reported here, some great discussions take place. Keep it up Jason and gang. :)
...but if it gets too popular some greedy company will want to offer Jason mucho $$$ for it and then they'll replace him with their company drones...perhaps make him work for free for six months to get it back...erm..is this a deja vú all over again? ;)
Anyway...congrats on a good site :)
