http://www.doml.com.sg/product.asp?id=512

I just got to play around with this nifty little product. It is a passive CF to PC Card converter which converts a CF I or CF II into a PC Card slot. My main Pocket PC is the HP Jornada 565 which only has a CF I slot. With this product I can make even more use of the CF I slot. For instance, I can continue to use the Voyager VGA PC card that I haven't used since my iPAQ Pocket PC broke. (You can see that iPAQ Pocket PC on one of the pictures, as I couldn't both use my HP Jornada to both shoot these pics as well as act as model!)

It is very light weight, and as you can see it is made of some sort of rubber. It is put together solid and works like a charm! The price is $33, so even the first PC Card I can use with the converter makes it worthwhile.

Looks as the same card. Am I missing the currency on the one I posted? Is it US $ or Singapore $?

My main Pocket PC is the HP Jornada 545

Say that again?

Oh, I knew you'd come after this!

I always carry two devices. The Pocket PC and my phone.
The phone happens to be a Pocket PC, too!

... just updated the post. It should not have said HP Jornada 545. Of course, I meant 565...

Excellent choice as well! ;)

Can the adaptor be bent backwards so it rests against the back of the device?

It would hard to walk around, carry a PPC and have a PC card sticks vertically out like that.

A lot of the Maestro users on Brighthand have these, and they do fold around the back. Looks a little strange, but it certainly makes transferring from an iPAQ cheaper.

I ust bought the Semsons card (exactly the same as the one you have pictured) and at only $25, with $13 shipping to the UK, quite a bargain! Who needs a PC Card sleeve?! :)

I am thinking about getting an Air Card 555, but I am uncertain about getting a PC card sleeve for my iPAQ. Ideally, I'd love to get a dual CF Sleeve from Nexian and use this adapter with the Air Card.

Think it will work?

Use the link to the Semsons site in this thread - they have a page listing all the PC Cards that are known to work with this adaptor.

Doml.com.sg uses Singapore $ ( S$ ) as their currency. They state this as S$ 58.20 before taxes, which transates into US $33. I've edited Andy's post, as most of would read that as US Dollars, not Singapore Dollars. :)

I did alot of beta testing for Semsons about 3-4 months ago. Here is what i came up with in my testing:

here is what I have been able to test with

Sierra wireless aircard 555,
Kingston 2gb datapak
cisco 340 aironet wifi.,
Kinston 1024, 512 MB datflash card pcmcia,
Sandisk pcmcia to sd adaptor with 128mb sd cards
IBM 1gb micros drive with pcmcia adaptor

What wont work,
Sony Memory stick adaptor pcmcia
Adaptec pcmcia 1460d card attached to CD or JAZ drive

hope this helps

I'm not technical, but would it be possible to create a similar thing for the SD slot?

(Someone else jump in and correct me if I'm wrong.)

No.

The PCMCIA card has 68 pins.
The CF card has 50 pins.
The SD card has 8 pins.

CF is a compatible subset of the PCMCIA standard. SD is not.

Is this what your talking about? Semsons makes it also. There are a number of similar adapters by different companies available as well.

I wanted to know if it would work with that. Thanks! Maybe I'll get one for my Maestro now. Does anyone have a picture of how it looks on the Maestro? :)

Run a search on Brighthand, there were a couple of illustrated threads.
