It's interesting how similar these devices look to the existing Jornada devices, down to the design of the stylus. Of course, it's kind of difficult to discern much more, because I can only read English. However, if you'd like the details, here they are: :)

I posted about this earlier this week on in relation with the HP928 article. There was some print coverage on the MIO 728 on Tuesday in Hong Kong quoting a press conference last week. It looks exactly like the photos you have posted but has an additional attenna that looks like the one on the XDA. Specs are very respectable.

Intel X-scale 300/400 MHz
32 MB ROM
64 MB SDRAM
3.5" TFT
185g
76.8 x 122 x 16.2 mm
Bluetooth
GPRS and GSM phone built in (picture has attenna)
CF II slot (no SD mentioned)
HK$4,000 (about US$500)

Release date was set for towards the end of this year. If so, I think I will continue to wait because the price and the specs can't be beat.

OK, OK, so I signed up for the contests... geez, like there's a law or something...

Nope, just a little joke. And as you see, you don't have to do much to get rid of the joke if you find that annoying. ;)

Here's the Worldlingo translation. Near as I can tell, I think the details amount to...

Mio 338
10mm thick, 100g mass
200MHz XScale

Mio 528
SD slot (I think)

Mio 728
Pocket PC Phone 2002
19mm thick
CF II slot

I'm also not sure how HK$ translate to US$. Anyway, have fun decoding...

I am going to have to agree with Salmon on this one either that or Metalic Pink, either way you won't see me buuying one unless my wife decides she wants a PPC. Ceptin her fav color is Green, so again I will have to agree with the 7 year old girl thing. My 7 year old daughter loves it.

Hey add a hello kitty sketch to the bottom where the buttons are and there you go.

For those that fear the color of pink or apricot, they will have other color choices as stated in the press release. The specs for MIO's does look very nice. I like the part they say about how light and thin MIO 338 will be. They claim that it'll be the lightest and thinest Pocket PC and even lighter and thiner than any color versions of Palm.

wow.......the case color is so distrubing. I might just get one to annoys just everybody and prevent anybody touching it beside me.......lol

It's PINK!

I would without hesitation getting loud neon yello ot electric green tho', something sporty. The traditional office office color is a bit drab afterawhile.

I like the part they say about how light and thin MIO 338 will be.

My favorite spec is: "bud to lose the technique technique without the line biography"

Let's see Palm compete with THAT!

Uhhh, I think you posted this news several months back.

Ohhh. Now I see... It's different.

Are these final versions already or still prototype?

Whatever happened to the Mitac Pocket PCs which you featured last May?

Mitac can convert all the Jornada lovers if they only would integrate a $.25 piece of plastic. I saves us the expense of buying $50 leather cases

Don't worry, the pictures of the prototype MIO 728 I saw were a very respectable blue. Maybe it comes in all the rainbow colours with changable covers. That would be cool.

Here's a "proper, line-by-line" translation. I think it's better than the one automatically generated on a previous post. However, there're some characters that are too small and fuzzy when enlarged to read properly.

FWIW, I *think* USD$1 ~= HKD$7.7. I haven't checked recently.

Mio 338 only 10mm thick
The Mio 528 is only 13.8mm thick, that's already impressive, however, the Mio 338, estimated to be released in November this year, will be even thinner and even lighter. Mio 338 will only be 10mm thick, weighing approximately only 100g, and will most likely be the lightest and thinnest Pocket PC ever released, even lighter and thinner than some coloured Palms.

Mio 338 will actually be similar to the Mio 528 as they lean towards the entry market path, but the hardware will be based on the XScale processor, compared to the 200MHz signal used previously; the rest of SD expansion and 64Mb RAM/32Mb ROM will continue. Apart from the pink unit shown, MiTAC are preparing to release other colours, units will also be cheaper than the Mio 528, $2000-odd for a Chinese Pocket PC is very economical!

Mio 728 Bluetooth PDA Phone
Mio 338 will only be released in November, another PDA Phone designed Mio 728 will debut in September. Mio 728 will use the Pocket PC 2002 operating system, combined with CompactFlash TypeII as an expansion option, but the unit will be comparatively bigger and heavier (19mm thickness and weighing 185g). Mio 728 will be released with different signals in different regions, but local models will use the GSM/GPRS signal. In addition, the unit will be equipped with Bluetooth.

I hope this makes sense. "Local" presumably means Hong Kong...
