I just got a new e740 and so far I haven't encountered any of the problems I've heard others mention (knock on wood).

The only problems I'm having is with MSN and with Earthlink. I'm connecting to my company network and from there to the Internet. MSN won't let me log in to mobile.msn.com with my Passport (and yes, I've already turned off AvantGo which was MSN's only suggestion so far) and Earthlink apparently has absolutely no clue that anyone might try to log into their website (especially webmail) with anything less than a 640x480 monitor. No suggestions or responses from them despite two emails.

I'm going to wear out my scrollbar at this rate.

Any suggestions from those who've already been there?

As for mobile MSN, is there a security bit missing because you're going through the network? As opposed to connecting directly. Maybe it thinks you're unsecure and won't let you on.

As for the resolution, you should try NyDITOT software. It allows you to reset your PPC with a different resolution. You can then Zoom for readability compress to fit the whole thing on the display. It's not perfect, but it is a little better way to do it than scrolling everywhere!

Thanks Malacandra for the the advice. I'll look into the NyDITOT software as well.

As for Earthlink, a little trial and error work and I stumbled upon mobile.earthlink.net. This seems to be their mobile version of their personal start page. Their unadvertised mobile start page I should say. I'm still experimenting with it, but apparently this is the page to use if you subscribe to their wireless service (which will never, ever be available in my town, I'm sure :x ) and I guess they only advertise it there.

Meanwhile still fiddlin' with the MSN stuff.

MSN/Hotmail requires 128 bit encryption. The Pocket PC 2002 Rom only has 40 bit. Go here to upgrade to 128-bit. http://www.microsoft.com/mobile/pocketpc/downloads/ssl128.asp
