The folks over at PocketPCMinds have pointed out an application from Golden Crater Software to help you do some basic editing.

The specs say Pocket Mixer allows you to:

• View, play, and modify audio sounds in real time on your PocketPC
• Resample, convert, mono or stereo.
• Change the volume, add an echo, mix from another file, crop, reverse and more.

From the looks of it, this works a lot like the built-in Windows Recorder program. For those of you wanting to customize alarm WAV files, this could be just what you need.

Looks like a nice little program. I downloaded it but haven't used it yet. I was hoping for MP3 support, but I guess it would really have to uncompress the MP3 (like most desktop programs do) and you would be right back to the space issue again.

Hmmmm.... I'm a'wonderin' if this could be used in conjunction with NoteM...? You know, convert to WAV onto a CF or whatever, then edit, then use NoteM to re-convert to MP3. Or would NoteM be limited to the 16kbps thing?

NoteM is only limited to 16kbps durring real-time recording.
Audio conversion is more flexable.

Well, seems this one needs a bit of work to smooth it out, as it fails to work for me yet. The developer seems to be right on top of things though, writing me in detail about possible fixes due any time soon. Exciting stuff! I love it when the Pocket PC just scoots along, powered by ever more functionality. I think I'm getting a software developer admiration complex. ;)
