Hi,
I've had my Maestro for a couple of months now and until yesterday there have been no problems. However, I'm having problems with my Maestro recognizing my CF storage card. One minute it sees it, the next it doesn't. I've tried flash format which seems to set it straight for a breif period until I try to drag a file over to the storage card (such as an MP3), then the system tells me that the card is either write protected or doesn't exist. I then have to re-format in order for the system to recognize the card again. Any ideas?
Thanx

Sounds like you may have a bad CF card - can you borrow one from a friend to test with?

Thanks for the response. I think you may be right. I tried another card and it seemed to recognize it fine. Do CF cards go bad? I've only had this one for a month or so. Anyway thanks again

Yeah, unfortunately it does happen. I would try to return the card if I were you.

You are not the only one with this problem. It happens to me also but not very often anymore. A lot of Maestro owners have reported this problem and I have yet to see any fix posted anywhere. It's happened with 3 of my CF cards ( all different manufacturers ) so I doubt that it is the CF card. :?

Hey this is a bit unrelated, but I have an Ipaq 3850 with 128mb SD card from Sandisk.
Sometimes the data transfer rate gets so slow for some reason, that when I use my PocketTV to play a mpeg file, it will slow down dramatically(skipping frame, etc). The only way to fix the problem and get the video to play smoothly again is to pause the video, take out the SD card, and re-insert it again, then everything would go back to normal.
Does this sound like a problem with the SD card? Or more like problem with my Ipaq?

Have you applied the latest ROM and EUU2 patches? There was an SD card fix that is included...

Same problem with my z50 Handheld PC, I usually find it to be poor contacts. I shut it off, remove and reinstall the card, and boogie on down the road.

Ordered a 1032, yesterday!

:?:
Are those iPaq only, or can Maestro users perform those updates too?
Is it the same as the update here: http://www.audiovox.com/PPC1X.html ?
Can any Maestro users report on this PPC1X upgrade? I have downloaded it but haven't run it yet.
Thanks,

NYkiwi, what brand of CF card are you having problems with?
I've been using 2 Mr Flash 128mb cards in my HPC IBM z50.
I use a Sandisk 64mb in my Kodak DC280 camera.
I've had no problems with the card in the camera.

I'm using a lexar media 256MB CF card. Only had it for a couple of months (same as the maestro), and showed no previous problems until what I described originally. Test drove the CF card on my Nikon coolpix 775 and worked just fine in all modes, so I'm not exactly sure if I should think that it's a problem with the card as suggested. However, with that said, I still get the error as previously described after re-insterting it back into the maestro. All current OS updates on the maestro, so I'm not sure what to think the cause of the problem is...
