Someone asked for "more smilies", so after much cursing and muttering, I've managed to add a whack of new ones in. Enjoy, but use them sparingly. Emoticon abuse is a serious offence. <img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/forums/images/smiles/icon_wink.gif" />

More emoticons !!! We don't need no stinkin' emoticons

A lot of these are just too tall. They really screw up line spacing and make reading posts a little more troublesome. Wide ones such as the one with the sniper rifle are fine, but the microwave and butterfly really take up a lot of vertical space. My two cents.

Jason,
That's a lot of emoticons! We're now going to have some insane "icon warz"...
More importantly, I have to say that the responsiveness of you, Chris, and the other mods on this site is really cool and much-appreciated by us (well, at least myself :turn-l: (couldn't resist))

p.s. The :onfire: seems a perfect emoticon next to a flamewar thread...

I already deleted some of the HUGE ones, but let's see how people use them first before I start deleting them. :-)

Thanks for the friendly reminder chief - I will be restrained. :splat:
(I agree that the larger ones should go). Keep the smaller fun ones though!
EDIT - hmmm - I can now see a 'Delete this post' option by my mesage - even though I have not got a double post. Why?
I made a new Avatar - specially for here :D

The post deletion stuff is by design (you can delete your post if it's the last post in a thread, whether or not you've double-posted).
BTW, my thoughts on the large emoticons: I don't think people will use them in the middle of their text if they want to be read, so I say let them be and see what happens. I do have to say I'm thumbs down on the puking one myself, but whatever rocks one's boat... although the More Emoticons window is getting insanely large.

I made a new Avatar - specially for here :DI've been working on this one on and off for a couple days, too. It's hard to see in this tiny version, but the display on the E-200 is the Thoughts home page in Pocket IE. :D
I went so far as to create different sizes for various sites since some sites want 80x80, others want 75x75, and one will let me go as high as 135x135. I had to crop the right side of the shadow too close, so I may decide to be anal-retentive enough to fix that. Plus, the transparency around the shadow doesn't work well on some backgrounds.

Another Dave?!?! ...however you do have one sweet avatar. Really shows the time you put into it. You should do some with different devices...that would be really cool. Thoughts on the screen is a nice touch.

Yes, another Dave. I think a guy on another forum is actually named "AnotherDave." I was in a 35-person class in college once that had eight Daves/Davids in it. It was kinda funny at first, but the "Dave 1," "David 3," etc. jokes became annoying after a week or two.
Thanks for the compliments on the avatar. To be fair, the E-200 image itself was borrowed from John Cruz's Pocket PC site (http://pocketpc.johncruise.com/), but removing the background, adding the depth/perspective shadow, and changing the display was what took all the time. Pdadave, your current avatar would be fairly easy to work with since there's a nice contrast between the PDA and the background. I had the luxury of having a higher-res source image to work with for my E-200 avatar, though, so playing with such a small image would be a bit challenging. Send me any images you want me to play with if I get some spare time.

Somehow, changing the traditional text based smiles, winks, etc.. takes away from the legacy that was reserved for the nerds.
These pictures make it all too easy - in fact, the entire www hyperlinking text document turned our once relatively exclusive listserve/pine email/shell/gopher/ftp/archie/nntp/etc internet into a novice internet playground.... :devilboy:

I know. I miss DR-DOS too. Those were the days when geeks were nerds and my CompuServe bill was $300 a month.

Just two months ago I finally cancelled my Compuserve account. I had it for so long, I felt really bad "letting go". The end of an era for me!!!

Yeah, it was a little random. But hey, I had to find an emoticon that no one had used in their posts yet! :)
