Determining Modem Connection Speed

I may be missing something, but I have not found anyplace on my device where I can see the rate at which my modem connects to the ISP.

Does anyone know:
1) Does the OS have something that shows this?
2) Is there a (free) utility that shows this?
3) Do any of the web sites that report your connect speed display especially well on the PPC's small screen?

I have always been curious about this, but as I may be shopping for a new ISP, I'd like to compare this as I try them out.

Unfortunately, there's no functionality in the OS that supports this. I'm not aware of any app that supports this (though it shouldn't be hard for someone to make one). About the best you can do it use a benchmarking web site that times your downloads.
