With the release of Tomb Raider on PDA, mobile users now will be able to play the entire first game of Tomb Raider, providing one of the richest and most immersive gaming experiences available on any mobile computing platform."<br /><br />• 15 massive levels encompassing four continents <br />• Gameplay faithful to the original PlayStation and PC versions of the game. <br />• A combination of puzzle, platform and adventure elements. <br /><br />But here's some bad news: "Tomb Raider is only compatible with the Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC models listed below. Please check you have a suitable device before purchase. Other ARM-based devices such as the HP Jornada or Toshiba Genio are not compatible." <br /><br />How did they manage to make an ARM-based game iPAQ-only and alienate the rest of the Pocket PC community? Use the affiliate link above to download the demo or buy the game.

There's a couple of news items dicussing the iPAQ-only release over at PocketGamer.org that I wrote. From what I can tell, in time Tomb Raider will also be released for other ARM devices when Eidos know that the iPAQ sales are going well.

Why won't it just run on the Jornada? Same processor. Is it a custom video calls or somethign?

The bad news is that the demo is not actually a PPC demo but runs in IE.

WTF - If I download a demo it is to see how it runs on the device. How intuitive the controls are. etc.

I never played the original game but may have bought it for PPC if it played ok but the supposed demo doesn't tell me anything about how it would play on my Ipaq. What are they on?

Well, it does run on the Jornada. I know that, and so does everyone who downloaded the cracked version. However, this is Eidos's first venture into the PDA games market, and they chose to go first of all with the iPAQ.

Boo...what a crock..they tooled it so it wouldn't work on other PPCs? How stupid is that? What is the point?

"Trial" is what it's improperly listed at Handango.

At least with a real demo, I could try it on my Toshiba/Audiovox to see if it would work.
Oh well. No sale.
