i was wondering which is the best mp3 player, something like winamp on ppc, with features like arm optimization, very small memory footprint, and a simple interface.

i want something else instead wmp to play mp3, sometimes wmp skips when opening programs and things like it.

i hear sugestions! :)

...something like winamp on ppc...

I would love to see WinAmp on PocketPC... NullSoft/AOL needs to be convinced of it. If they carried over the easy plug-in add/on functionality with visualizations, etc.... it would be a real hit I think.

Unfortunately, there really isn't a good one. I keep hoping Conduits will update Pocket Player and make it kick ass, but so far they haven't (I know they're thinking about it). I've even contacted Nullsoft several times and given them some survey results about porting Winamp to the Pocket PC, no response.

I'll tell you if you stop double-posting to the forums.

I don't know that I have ten, but the apps I'm using most now are ListPro, Snails (game), Argentum (game), Mazingo, Resco Picture Viewer, and Timekeeper (Conduits). I use the built in apps a lot, PIM and media player.

sad theres no winampppc or something! it will be really cool! and if winamp is well coded perhaps is not so hard to port it to ppc! anyway what about a petition for coduits?

Utopiasoft used to have a decent MP3 player too, but I don't think they are around anymore either. I think we will see a WinAMP style clone for Pocket PC in the near future. Some company is probably working on one...there is a big market for it.

try pocketDIVX .. it plays *almost ever* file format.. avi, mp3, mpeg.. etc

plus it uses MAD mp3 encoder!

Check out www.40th.com this is the one I use. IMHO its' the best one on the market. They also have a version ported to the XScale with optimizations.

I wonder what they did to take advantage of xscale... ? I have never heard of this software... how have they been hiding? Even has remote control of WinAmp and a special WiFi streaming of files. This looks cool, I am going to try it now.

Good luck getting your "ticket" - the guy who created it has all these rules about who he will and won't sell it to.

Updated the code to comply with the new ARM insruction set that XScale uses.

Yeah, 40th has been around doing iPlay for a while. Some of the earlier version I didn't think were all that great, but maybe the latest is better.

...rules about who he will and won't sell it to.

Maybe he should simplify the method of sale. Though he might have good software, he needs to just put it up on PocketGear or something and get it out there so people like Jonno can hear about it in a timely fashion.

I have been using this withMP3 player and it is defintiely the best mp3 player i've used on the ppc. However, I am haning trouble figuring out how to stream files over my WiFi network. I see where the path name is but it wont let me enter anything. Does anyone know how to get around this?

Has anyone tried the Mobius Jukebox player?

www.mobiusaudio.com

My biggest gripe about WMP is trying to manage large playlists. I want to be able to sort by artist, album, etc. I have all my music on my hard drive and am thinking about a portable drive (8 - 10 GB) to play it in my car (I'm on the road a lot). It looks like Mobius is supposed to do this, though I haven't been able to get it to list by album or artist yet. If anyone has tried Mobius, I'd love to hear opinions of it.
