$20 for a BBQ timer? Who on earth would use this thing? This seems to be another example of overpriced PDA software without a really viable use - after all, just having a look at your food on the barbie seems to work pretty well...

Nice, but too expensive. I would pay $5.99 no more.... :?

Do they provide free gloves for greasy fingers?

If you give me 20 bucks I'll come over to your BBQ and tell you when to flip those burgers. Heck, I'll do it for free food.

This program looks kinda cool (I like BBQing), but 20 dollars is WAY too much. I've never sat at my BBQ and thought to myself "Wow, I wish there was a computer app that guided me step-by-step through this complicated process."

You mean your Char-King Super Deluxe grill doesn't already come with an LCD touch screen control console?

Well I don't think those claims by Palm about the number of developers and software available will be used as an argument much longer

Now, if an application like this also included something like a library of cookout recipes, would THAT make the price more (ahem) palatable?

What a monumental amount of effort to solve a problem that didn't really need solving in the first place! At least in the screenshot, the UI looks pretty sharp, but I can't help but laugh when I think about how much work the developer must have put in on this.

When you look at the world of PocketPC shareware/freeware, there really isn't very much good stuff out there. There seems to be about 10,000 strip poker games and add-ins, but can you believe how few non-solitaire, non-strip card games are out there? It's pathetic. The few I've seen use ugly proprietry card libraries and cost $25. Makes me yearn for the world of Palm freeware.

I don't get it. Microsoft gives away the developer tools, which are a lot easier to use than any free tools for Palm development, yet there's so little development in the freeware/low cost shareware arena (especially when compared to Palm). Everybody thinks that their "does one miniscule thing that has little chance of actually improving your life" app is worth $20. Or that people want to pay $20 for your rehash of Connect-4 or Tetris. Please.

There is a list of its features on Handango.com. It works very well for me. I think it's well worth the money.

Let me put it this way...

Do you know *exactly* when to put something on the grill so it all finishes at the same time? (No you guess)

Do you know *exactly* how long to cook something so it's done to your liking? (No you guess)

Do you know *exactly* where everyones custom seasoned food is located on the grill? (No you guess)

Do you know *exactly* when to start cooking so everything will be ready to eat at a desired serving time? (no you guess)

Do you remember *exactly* what your friends like and how they like it cooked?

BarBQ Buddy takes the guess work out of grilling!!!

Its much more than a timer!

If you spend a few hundred bucks on a grill and put $100.00 worth of food on your grill several times a year, isn't $20 worth the price to ensure the food it cooks is PERFECT?

I think you guys are beeing much to hard on this app. :-) I think a $10 price tag would be more reasonable, but it has a lot of functions and I for one think it's pretty cool. If I wasn't cooking mere hot dogs for a BBQ this Sunday, I'd be using this for sure. 8)
