<a href="http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=4162">http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=4162</a><br /><br />I'm not sure if this product is new to you, but it's the answer to a request I hear all the time for a free screen capture utility. <br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/cecapture.gif" /><br /><br />Epiphan Consulting's CECapture simply places an icon on the bottom of your Pocket PC screen, which you tap in order to capture the current screen. It then saves the capture as an uncompressed bitmap to the \My Documents directory. It's not a completely flexible solution, but the price sure is right.

Go to start ....settings.....systemTab.....and click on Itask settings.
leave the "Label" and "Icon" field as is(iTask) and change "Menu item" to an unassigned number....than in the "Replace with" field select the internal folder and select "delay capture" ...not Capture.

Now close out back to your today screen.
Push the Itask button and select the Itask arrow on your screen.....you will see a delay screen capture option right there......it will save a bmp file in you root directory, which looks like.. Capt0003.bmp(225.1KB).

And even better: PQView ( search on Handango, where the latest and best build is availalbe) is free for personal use, is a good image viewer, and takes screenshots as well. Not only in .bmp, but also in .pcx, .gif and .jpg. Save that RAM!

Well, I for one think this free app is very cool - no fuss, no muss. Great find Brad!

Marlof, you are right. PQview is actually the one I am using all the time.

This is a great find. It's just good to know there are other free options, so people get to choose what they prefer. Choice is great!

I saw you post this solution in the public newsgroup and was completely unaware of this capability. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Are you aware of any similar capabilities on other (non-iPAQ) Pocket PC 2002 devices? I couldn't find anything on my Jornada 560.

Does the icon display when you're not at the Today screen? If not, it doesn't seem very useful.

Personally, I have used Magic SS for a while now. There is no icon, but I have it mapped to one of my hardware buttons. It's free, only takes 8.5 KB, and you can get it at Magic SS Download (http://www.louterrailloune.com/magicss.html).

It seems more flexible than CE Capture. The attached file is a screen capture of what it allows.

I haven't seen this anywhere else except for the iTask settings on the iPAQ...but since you now know that this is an option you can see that there are more possibilities with the itask.

...but since you now know that this is an option you can see that there are more possibilities with the itask.

I have to admit that the iTask function is not something I've taken the time to master. The first couple of times I played with it, it seemed so counter-intuitive that I never really did much with it. But then, just because something's not logical to me doesn't mean that it won't work for people with normal brains. :)
