Then get this! Doml told me they have received a limited amount of 512 MB SD cards, straight from Japan. They're offering them for $ 776.65 (US $ 433,11 or € 467,72) before taxes and customs. A lot of money, but also a lot of storage in a tiny package.

So what's so special about Singapore? Do they have a bigger SD market than the U.S.? Or is Panasonic using them as beta testers?

Any word on when U.S. retailers will be carrying these?

Great news, but still can't find either , 256MB or 512MB, in U.S. Not even at Panasonic's on-line store.

I did find out though, on Panasonic's web site, that 1GB and 4GB versions are planned for the future. :D This means that i'll be able to carry my entire mp3 collection with me on two SD cards (if I can afford the price). Here is the link:

Well, my 256 meg sd card was stuck in Alsaka (fedex) for 4 days waiting for US customs to declare FCC approval. After telling Fedex it did not need FCC approval, they released it. I used it for 18 hours in my IPAQ 3835 until my 512 MB arrived after 1 day from Singapore no hold by Fedex. I received both cards to my address in south Florida My price including shipping for the 256 mb sd card was $240.10 US dollors and $460.15 US dollors for the 512 mb sd card. Both cards seem to be working fine, however now I have no need for the 256 mb sd card.

So what are you selling it for? :-)

Man, I did start to experience problems with a SanDisk 64MB SD card yesterday. It kept hanging my USB reader when inserted so that I would have to disconnect/reconnect the reader device to be able to read other cards again. My SanDisk 128MB, Panasonic 64MB, and Canon/JVC 8MB SD cards, as well as my CF cards, didn't have any problems.

Strangely, that 64MB SD card worked when used with a PCMCIA adapter on my laptop. So I just reformatted it from the laptop, then it worked just fine on the USB reader again.

Also, I noticed that the manuals for the digicams/camcorders state to always format a new card within the device itself first. I wonder if each device formats a card a little differently?

Strange FYI, my WinXP desktop defaulted to formatting flash cards with FAT32 (I formatted the 64MB card again on the desktop just to see what happens). Naturally, that FAT32 card didn't work with any of my SD devices *except* for the Panasonic SV-AV10, which used it just fine :?
