E-125 Casio Modem Problems

I have a Casio JK-711MC56 modem for my E-125 and am having trouble getting a good connection with my USA ISP. To top it off, I wanted to take it to the UK with me on vacation. When I tried to access a UK phone number for my ISP I also had trouble but I called Casio Tech support and they told me that the modem was only certified for the US and Canada. Does anyone know whether this modem will, in fact, work in England?

I also have the 120/240 50-60 cycle Casio power converter and for that too, they say it is only for the US and Canada. I find this hard to believe assuming you use a UK plug converter with it.

I suspect it will not as they don't work in New Zealand or Australia because they "shout". This means that their output is so high that it interferes with other signals on the same cable. Our phone cables were supplied by British Telecom so you will probably hit the same problem in the UK.

I would recommend purchasing a global class CF modem as this can be reprogrammed for use overseas.

I use my ADC59200GA 240/120v AC Adapter in the UK and Ireland when I am there and it works AOK. Just buy a UK pin adapter and you will be fine.

Thanks for the reply. I did take the modem with me to England and finally got my ISP configured correctly and it did work most of the time. Of course it does require the proper line plug converter. The same thing for the power converter. I did manage to leave the power converter plugged in at a B&B and had to have them send it to me further down the line. We were on a bicycle trip and there was no way I was going to ride back 50 miles to get it.
