<a href="http://www.iastyle.com">http://www.iastyle.com</a><br /><br />Where Jason is an avid user of Resco Picture Viewer, I couldn't get used to that program. Since its first release, I've always had IA Album on my Pocket PC as my major picture. I guess I was too familiar with the IA user interface to easily make a transition to another program. But I did think the digital camera support in Picture Viewer was very cool. So I was pretty excited that IA Style reports:<br /><br />"We have just released new versions of IA Album, our photo viewer for Pocket PCs, and IA Presenter, for viewing and displaying Microsoft PowerPoint slides on Pocket PCs. The new version of IA Album is focused mostly on new features for use with digital cameras. The new IA Presenter adds compatibility for the MARGI Systems Presenter-to-Go, as well as some new zoom features and other effects."<br /><br /><b>Improvements</b><br /><i>IA Album 2.3</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/iaalbum_03.jpg" /><br /><br />• New Browse Flash Card command searches the external flash storage cards extremely fast. <br />• Improved speed of thumbnail generation for JPEG files with built-in EXIF thumbnail data. <br />• A new "Histogram" feature shows the thumbnail image, filename, and its associated Histogram. You can select which Channel of the histogram to display: Luminance, Red, Green, or Blue. <br />• Zoom Enhancement: New Drag-n-Zoom feature, and more versatile Zoom Slider. <br />• Thumbnail/List/Filename Mode Improvement. <br />• Additional EXIF information is displayed if it is available, such as Exposure Time, F Number, Exposure Bias Value, Date and Time. <br />• The Folder tab now provides optional Storage Card-related information. <br />• Slideshow enhancement: Great control over thumbnail size and display style. <br />• Supports Colorgraphic's Voyager, and MARGI Presenter-to-Go VGA output card. <br /><br /><i>IA Presenter 2.15</i><br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/iapresenter_215.jpg" /><br /><br />• A stand-alone IA Presenter Converter is provided, so that you can choose to convert the PowerPoint files into .IAP files on the desktop PC, and move them onto the Pocket PC at any convenient time. <br />• A new Zoom command is added for slides' Zoom In and Zoom Out on the PDA's LCD screen. <br />• Along with the Voyager VGA card, it now supports the MARGI Presenter-to-Go VGA card and its remote controller.<br /><br />The upgrades are free for all current registered owners.

Well I'd just be making a wild guess, but the last line of the message right above yours says...

"The upgrades are free for all current registered owners. "

:x Well this is reather sloppy on the part of the IA Style folks. If you use this and upgrade, be sure to remove the old one before installing the new one. Although they indicate no need to do this on their web site, if you don't, you'll end up with both versions on your PPC at once (but only one Remove Programs entry).

When you run the install, it asks if you want to upgrade/reinstall so you think it will be a normal upgrade. But it doesn't do that. They've changed the location of where they put the .exe, so you end up with both program files still on your PPC (at about 750K each). What's worse, you can't just delete the old version because jpeg files stay associated with the old one.

I haven't tried removing and reinstalling yet, though I think that's what I'll do, but at least you'll know to go that route instead of upgrading over the top.

What I really want is an album that will let me view and edit the IPTC fields for annotating photos. I'd love to take my IPAQ with me and then pop the CF card from my camera into the iPAQ, annotate all my pictures, and when I get home, download the pictures to my harddrive all fully annotated. As far as I can tell, only Pocket Phojo does this on the pocketpc and I'm not about to pay $500 for it. Anyone know of any alternatives?
