I’m rebuilding a small number of iPAQ 3660 and 3630 for my company, these have the ROM v1.77. I am upgrading these to 1.87, however, two were faulty and I sent them back to iPAQ and when they came back they had been upgraded to ROM v2.07. (Thanks iPAQ for asking me first). As the build I am installing only works on 1.87 I set about downgrading the ROM using SP20010. This works by running a program on your PC that you follow using the backup file IPAQROM177.nbf. I managed to downgrade one iPAQ to 1.77 and then upgrade it to 1.87. I started on the second iPAQ using the USB cradle and just as the program started to run on the iPAQ I got the following “Error 105 Open Port Failure”. So I tried the serial cradle and got “Error 113: UPGRADE ERROR”.
I have cleared the USB connection in device manager and reinstalled ActiveSync 3.5 but I still get those errors. Does anybody out there know what’s going on or what I need to do to have a successful downgrade?
