I just bought a NEC MobilePro 300 and was working on getting it sync'ed up with a fresh install of Windows XP Pro. Everything worked fine to start with - Installed Outlook 2002 and ActiveSync 3.5 from the CD and my PC found my PPC fine and sync'ed properly.
A couple weeks later, I needed to go back and install Word 97 from an old Office 97 CD. I inadvertently overwrote my Outlook 2002 with the 97 version. I uninstalled Office 97 and reinstalled Outlook 2002 and found that my PPC wouldn't synch anymore.
I have since uninstalled Outlook 2002 and ActiveSync and reinstalled again.
When I try to go through the "Get Connected" procedure in ActiveSync 3.5, it doesn't find my PPC as connected through the USB cradle and therefore does not "Connect" through ActiveSync.
I did as the instructions said where I did NOT have the cradle connected to my PC while installing ActiveSync.
I don't think its a hardware issue as it worked fine earlier in the day (before my Office screw-up). Also, XP notifies me that a new USB device has been found when I plug the USB cable into the back of my PC.
Should I do a soft reset of my PPC? Or a Hard reset? Is there another solution if these don't work?
