<a href="http://www.amiga-anywhere.com/microsoft/index.shtml">http://www.amiga-anywhere.com/microsoft/index.shtml</a><br /><br />Amiga is in the middle a critical shift. From being a premiere hardware innovator and manufacturer, Amiga wants us to saddle up for a software ride. The first Pocket PC effort is called Amiga Anywhere Entertainment Pack #1 and contains four games. What is important to note is the "#1", which means there will be more. In fact, the key message Amiga sends to the community and market is that the so-called "Amiga Anywhere Content Engine" is in town and will start to make a difference. They say there's hundreds of games in the works that will utilize their game engine.<br /><br />A word from Scott Horn, director of Embedded and Appliance Platforms Group, Microsoft: "As mobile devices become smarter and more powerful, users are asking for rich entertainment and gaming experiences. The combination of the Windows CE operating system's multimedia functionality and Amiga's software solution allows developers to deliver rich applications for a broad range of Windows Powered devices."<br /><br />Thanks to Robert Bouge for sending in the <a href="http://theregus.com/content/4/24622.html">link</a>.<br /><br /><img src="http://www.pocketpcthoughts.com/images/amigazed.jpg" />

It is all well and good to purchase these games but I refuse to do so unless there exists an eval. How do other people feel? :?:

Having been an Amiga buff in the past and also having a soft spot for this company that has really been through th wringer, I popped over to buy a copy. Problem is that the Entertainment pack and the Amiga-Anywhere player are not listed for purchase for Pocket PC yet! I'll check back in a few days.

I also was an Amiga religous zealot... I remember the battles between Commodore, Atari (ST), and Apple (early Mac)... then came Windows. I believe only recently with XP has computer world really caught up with the potential of what was the Amiga. If just for nostalgia, I will buy these games to say that I have a running Amiga something again.

Even XP aren't close to what Amiga could evolve to. :(

In any case one reason I am eager for XScale, is that most probably we'll see a UAE.CE :)

I'd buy it just for Planet Zed. That's one Xerious looking game. :D To bad they blew the release date though. :o

To be honest I was disappointed when I visited their site - because the only association with Amiga seems to be the name. If there were some degree of emulation of Amiga features or UI (not sure that's appropriate for a Pocket PC) I'd be interested, but to me it seems all they've done is buy the name and then slap it on a completely unrelated product. It appears to bear as much relation to Amiga as 'Netscape Online' does to Netscape.
Like many other people I was a loyal Amiga user for many (well, several) years, only jumping to the PC camp when the specs for Windows 95 convinced me that Microsoft had finally worked out how to do a GUI. But there's still a lot I miss (including a lot of OS features).Sigh.
