Sure you are. ;-)<br /><br /><img src="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/0735711771.01.MZZZZZZZ.jpg" /><br /><br />"The gurus of Flash development bring you the only comprehensive resource on developing Flash for the Pocket PC, cell phone & other devices. Flash Enabled guides Flash designers & developers in creating content and applications for multiple devices with Flash and other tools. Focusing on the Pocket PC platform, this book also discusses considerations in developing Flash for set-top box systems, cell phones, and lays the foundation for devices such as the Palm. Flash Enabled targets four main concepts: 1) design/development considerations, 2) creating content once & deploying to many platforms, (including info on using MM Generator to author content in Flash and serve it to Palm Pilots and cell phones that don't yet have Flash Players), 3) creating Flash content for Pocket PC, and 4) application development using Flash integrated with middle-ware. Throughout this book the authors provide guidelines, step-by-step tutorials, workflow, best practices, and case studies. The web site provides full source code, online resources, demo versions of relevant software and tips and tricks from the book."

pt is definatly keeping this one on the down-low at the moment. Even if some people already have test versions or previews, they definatly aren't sharing.

Do you guys know if he has a "release date" planned? I'm sure he'll charge exorbitant amounts of money for it, he does everything else. :?

So I'm not the only one that though charging $5 for today screen themes was kinda iffy?

$5 wouldn't be too bad for a custom-designed flash background. For example, your business, etc. But for a personal, maybe use for two week version? Eh, a little too much.

Certainly not, the PT (aren't his initials PMT?!) designs that I have seen thus far have left me feeling less than enthused.

Yeah, I would pay him $5 for a "Dan the Loser" animated flash theme but not for some lame-o thanksgiving zombie turkey (ok maybe if it was a zombie, but I don't see that happening do you?).

Hey guys, PT has to do something to fund the other great content on his site! He doesn't have any ads, he relies on the funds those themes give him. Now if PocketPCThoughts started selling themes to keep the site open I think you would buy wouldn't you? He has done a great job with the site and I am sure the book will be great as well. As for animated themes, Microsoft or Macromedia most likely want him to keep it secret until they can officially announce how it is done.

I sense some inside info here!

Actually, I did almost append a comment to my post to the effect that it was a bit harsh, there are some awfully cool things on his site. I do have to say though that, of the things I have seen that he has been selling, I didn't really think they were worth what he was asking.

I will also say that there is actually a trucking company in the US called PMT, so ah, yeah, I hope that I didn't go too far over the line there...

Then don't buy 'em. That's the way the free market works right? You can sell something for whatever you want, and if people buy it, you make some money. If you don't like the price for the product, don't buy it. :?

But don't hack on the guy for trying to make some money off his efforts - at least he's trying to break the stereotype of "everything is free" on the Internet that so many people adhere to...

The book shows how to make animated today screens. The plan is to have the millions Macromedia Flash developers embrace this application and make tons of great animated themes. They can give them away for free, they can sell them, it's up to them.

$5 for at least 10-20 themes , that's less than 0.50 per theme is most cases. ringtones, backgrounds, pocket pc themes, ebooks are all things that can and should be charged for if they have value to the user, no one forces anyone to buy anything. there are tons of free things out there too, if that serves your needs please use those. but i think you'll find the prices are fair, the content is great and there is a market for this.

I didn't? I wasn't suggesting that I was forced into it Jason. That was my opinion. :?

i, for one, am really looking forward to this book. i've been waiting for it to come out for like what seems forever.

and for the record, Philip - http://www.flashenabled.com - and Bill - http://www.pocketpcflash.net - are making great contributions to the pocket pc flash scene, so a 'thank you' would be more in order than some of what i've read here in this topic.
