I'm Ed Hansberry, and many of you may know me from the .pocketpc newsgroup where I spend most of my Pocket PC related time, although I do occasionally chime in on the PDA Buzz forums to see what is going on in the world of Pocket PC's and Palm. However, I rarely have an opinion on anything over there. ;-)

I've been a Pocket PC user from day one and had a Philips Nino before that. I became an MVP for Mobile Devices in the fall of 2000 apparently after I caught someone's attention with a DRM5 rant. :-)

It is great to be on board at Pocket PC Thoughts. I'll start getting my feet wet soon, once I figure out how this new "board" thing works. :-)

Welcome. Do you ever feel like PocketPCThoughts is the Borg? Keeps sucking in good people?

Welcome! I have always thought your "PocketPCThoughts" over in the newsgroup were great. It will be great to read your thoughts here as well!

Resistance is futille - you will be assimilated. Unless you have no talent, in which case you will be ignored.

Hey, a phillips Nino, I had one of those. In fact I still have it laying around here somewhere. 75mhz, 8mb rom, 16 shade greyscale. It brings back old memories.

Great... after stirring stuff up in the PDABuzz forums, and stirring stuff up at the MVP Summit, Ed's now stirring stuff up on Pocket PC Thoughts

Re Nino: greyscale? You mean greenscale! Sold my Nino a while ago but it is a solid if not oversized product.

oh the trusty old Nino....I still have mine in my drawer. Paid the same for that as I did my iPAQ ($350) and was very happy with it for quite some time.

Ed - welcome... It's good to see some of the NG folks moving in here!

Don't you think Franklin/Brentwood needs a PPC user's group get-together?

Hey, I still have my first CE device! My trusty Velo1. Paid almost $400 for it (4MB of RAM and all!) I'm an accessories freak and have most of the Velo stuff except for the case which was pretty lousy. Other than a broken hinge which required a quick trip back to Phillips, it keeps going and going and going. I can't bear to part with it. I was really sorry they got out of the business.

Welcome! We will of course hold you to an obnoxiously higher standard than we hold Sam too, for no particular reason of course ;)

Awww, memories of the Velo (both). That's when I first ran into Jason, :D. I still have my Velo 500, built in modem was so cool back then. Come to think of it, kinda cool now.

It's his CarPaq.

There is an idea of some sort...maybe an expansion pack built into your car for the iPAQ. Could run the stereo, GPS/mapping, or even be your cellphone (future models that is).

I'd want it to also interface to the car's computer for gas mileage, performance numbers, speed graphs, etc.

I smell custom license plate!

I spend 2 hrs a day in that car and love it. Most of the time it is listening to Audible on my iPAQ plugged into the stereo via my a cassette adapter. The rest of the time is listening to Mazzy Star (http://www.mazzystar.nu). Ahhhh...... Into Dust (http://www.mazzystar.nu/lyrics/intodust.htm)......zzzzzzzzzzzzzzhttp://home.att.net/~ed.hansberry/smiley/snore.gif
