Hi all,
interested reading about all the backlight problems, but mine is a little different. I have no problems turning the light on or off, but when the light is on I find that the pen becomes really inacurate - the wrong programs open, the wrong letters are input on the 'keyboard', trying to draw a picture in Notes reults in a messy line rather than a straight line. I have tried to realign the screen with the light on and off, but this doesn't help. Does any one have any idea what's going on?
Thanks a lot
Rory

I never experienced this problem, but I can see how this would be mighty annoying. Try recalibrating your screen with the backlight (it's really a sidelight, but you know). That may help and then again it may not. I've never really been impressed with the digitizer quality on my iPAQ. It gives too much, and even with my screen savers designed for extra traction (thick hand cut vinyl), it's too slippery; although these complaints have become apparent in contrast more than anything.
Cheers,
Sam

I haven't heard of this particular problem, either. However, there have been many reports of problems with the digitizer, which Compaq typically replaces.
I'd contact Compaq and ask for a replacement or repair (free of charge, of course).

Do you use a screen protector? I have noticed that if I have one that wasn't placed correctly or is old some times the stylus will become inaccurate on certain portions of the screen.

Finally found someone, i have the exact same problem, any idea how to solve it?
I honestly don't remember if it only occured with the backlight on specifically, but my screen would have recurring issues with staying aligned. A short-term suggestion is to rub the screen with a light pressure, which I've found remedies the problem, atleast temporarily. I don't see exactly how having the backlight on or off would make a difference on how the touchscreen reacts.
I ended up having to bring it back (3700) to Best Buy under the service plan, and was able to talk my way into getting a 3835 back as a replacement; so it all ended up for the better.
