He also points out that this could be helpful in getting Social to recognize the songs you play (though I'm not convinced of his argument that Social takes the album metadata from your computer--I'm pretty sure that comes from their servers). </p><br /><p>He brings up another cool tidbit: &quot;<em>zune.net just made their 800x800 album art available via the back-end service I'm using so now you can grab full 800x800 album art even on tracks you didn't purchase directly from the Marketplace. Just download </em><a target="_blank" href="http://enginefour.com/downloads/Marketplace.zip"><em>Marketplace.zip</em></a><em> and extract the single Marketplace.src into your %appdata%Mp3tagdatasources folder and you'll be rocking! I'd also suggest you </em><a target="_blank" href="http://www.anytag.de/forums/index.php?showtopic=57"><em>download the very latest</em></a><em> beta of Mp3tag because the tag sources (what Marketplace plugs into) dialog is much easier to figure out for first timers, plus I always include the artist in the track listing and version 2.39n supports splitting this into the correct tags.</em>&quot;</p>

I'll have o check outMP3Tag. I've been a loyal user of QCD for years and I love the tag editing's tie-in with Gracenote. But now since I'm a Zune fanboy, I need a good, standalone tag editor.

I agree the Zune software needs better tag editing. Nothing's more annoying to me than poorly tagged and named media files.

Thanks for the tip!

okay...so i tried it out for a little while only issue that i have is that after all the song titles it adds a "/" and then the artist's name...

kinda redundant since on the zune device it has the artists name right below the title...

I haven't tried MP3tag, but Media Monkey (http://www.mediamonkey.com) works really well!

The reason for the "/" is to handle "Various Artists" style albums like soundtracks or compilations. To get rid of it you need to use the latest 2.39n version of Mp3tag and in the lower-left hand corner click "Utils" then the first option is "Compilation". This will split the track and artist and now your tracks will be tagged with the correct artist.

I'm still toying with this and I may add a second web source just for "Compilation Albums" so you don't always have to deal with the "/".

In fact... I think I will to prevent any future confusion :)

Redownload the Marketplace.zip, I've updated it to have two different sources, if you're just looking up an album use Marketplace > Album, if you're tagging a compilation or soundtrack do Marketplace > Compilation Album.

Woot! gonna download it right now!

Edit: Yeah, now i'm pretty sure that this is gonna take the place of tag&rename for all my audio metadata needs now...Thanks!

Just a note, Mp3tag 2.4 was released last week so no need to scurry about trying to find the most recent beta development build.
