Although the recent 2.3 software update included a long list of fixes, I'm seeing things that still need looking after. One of them is the way the Zune software seem to struggle with having an accurate index of the content - either that, or it's an oversight in the user interface. If I type "Jars of Clay", this is the research result I get:

I have 15 Jars of Clay albums, yet it only shows me three. Either the Zune software doesn't realize that there are more than three albums, or the user interface designer forgot to add an "Expand" button next to albums to show the user that there are more than three albums. The latter is somewhat unlikely because it says "(3)" after the word albums, meaning there are only three found.

If I look up the artist manually, I see the correct result of 15 albums:

So...this needs to get fixed!

There is nothing to fix. When you search for "Jars of Clay" it will obviously give you artist results, but Album and song results go by Title. Therefore, It is only displaying the albums which titles are "Jars of Clay" or something similar (Hence your album result titles are "Jars of Clay" and "Jars of Gems")
There is nothing to fix, you are just expecting it to search by artist name and display all the albums by that artist, when instead of searches by Album Title.
Make Sense?

Either way, search is currently useless. WMP11/Zunev1 were great in that you could just type and the results would narrow down. Zunev2 has a similar functionality, though only for the currently selected group and by the order of the word (no out of order/multi-group searching). Yes, v1 suffered performance issues, especially on slower computers, but they really need to bring it back.
Plus, the v2 search doesn't really enable you to do anything with the results other than act as hyperlinks to the actual content. That's what should be fixed.

Windows Media Player 11, when I type "Jars of Clay", gives me all of their albums - that's what I was expecting. That's what I want. So you might be right, if may be by design, but I think it's a flawed design because if I want to find a certain album by the band, I have to do more clicking than WMP11, and I think that's a flawed design.
So I want them to fix the flawed design. ;)

15 albums! Jeez, I only thought they had that one album with Flood on it!

What is "Flawed" to you isn't "Flawed" to someone else. You should edit the post on your page so people don't get the wrong idea.
I don't find this a "Flaw", it's subjective. But it's not good to give the impression that there is a bug when it's not really a bug.

Well, this site is called "Zune Thoughts" for a reason - it's the place where myself and my team talk about the Zune, and yes, some of that is going to include subjective interpretations of features or functions. You're definitely welcome to disagree with us, that's why we have the forums. :D
I did note, however, that "either that, or it's an oversight in the user interface", so I allowed for the fact that it might not have been a bug, just a way of displaying the information that I don't think makes sense.
