Rather that offering a drive designed to function as a portable backup device for your notebook, the FreeAgent is designed for people who use multiple PCs, and want a portable “pseudo computer” that lets them take apps, games, and files to each PC. It’s a slick drive and the software works very well, though the file syncing utility leaves a bit to be desired, and some rudimentary backup software would be appreciated."

Interesting feature. I've seen the same thing done on a thumb drive with U3 and thought it was a pretty good idea. This appears to take the same concept and bump up the drive size to something that will cover most users.

I have five Seagate FreeAgent drives here at home. Four are plugged to my Windows Home Server (3 x 500 GB, 1 x 320 GB) and the fifth is the FreeAgent 160 GB I use on my laptop.

These are great drives. I had bad experiences with Maxtor (1 TB OneTouch) which was replaced twice - three bad units in 12 months, and the WD MyBook goes to sleep after 15 minutes, causing the OS To unmount the drive - and only a reboot brings it back to life.

The Seagate Agent series are highly recommend.
