They need to realize that "we" consumers don't want to repurchase our media for each new device that comes along. We want beautiful products that work well together and can share media. I'd like to see technology companies, including manufacturers and content creators, start working together to create standards. When devices are standards-based, the best solutions will still win. Hopefully Amazon and Apple's recent shift toward DRM-free downloads will shift the tide back towards the consumers.

1. I beg to differ with the idea that nobody likes DRM. Most people flat out don't care about DRM. If it doesn't get in the way, we don't care. For example I can play my music on my iPhone, my computers (all 5 of them) and a CD player if I so desire. Does it have DRM? Sure, but it doesn't really matter because there's nothing I want to do that can't be done with or without the DRM.

2. This guy works for MACROVISION for Christ's sake. His mission in life is to get everyone using HIS copy protection, not eliminating it to make life better for consumers. If copy protection went away, he'd be out of a job and MV would be out of business.

People only care about copy protection when it gets in the way. Right now DRM isn't a big issue for the average user (which translates to most users) because it simply doesn't effect them. Maybe it will at some point in the future, but not now.
